Sock Monkey Can Cozy Yarn Artists Designs

Materials Needed:
Small amount of Red, Black or Brown HHook Measuring Tape Yarn Needle 3/4" or 7/8" buttons (black or brown)

Abbreviations:
st = stitch sl st = slip stitch sts = stitches sc = single crochet sctog = single crochet the next 2 sts together ch = chain blo = back loop only Notes: Throughout the pattern, Chain 1 will equal a single crochet.
Finished Size of Cup Cozy is 4" tall. When laid flat it is 4 to 4 1%" wide. (Fits a 12 ozcan)
Stitch Gauge with worsted weight yarn and H Hook: 7 sc and 10 rows = 2" square Use whatever hook needed to obtain this gauge. I will have you check your measurements after row 5 to make sure you are on target Let's begin...
Can Cozy: With H Hook and Main Color (MC)
Ch 3, sl st to form a ring. Round 1: Ch 1, 7 sc in ring, sl st to ch 1 (8) Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, 2 sc in each st around, sl st to ch 1 (16) Round 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in next st, \*sc in next, 2 sc in next\* repeat from \* around, sl st to ch 1 (24) Round 4: Ch 1, sc in next, 2 sc in next, \*sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st\* repeat from \* around, sl st to ch 1 (32) Round 5: Ch 1, sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next, \*sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next sts\* repeat from \* around, sl st to ch 1 (40) Stop and check your gauge here: You should have approx. 3 inches across. If you got that measurement...continue on. Ears: with H Hook and MC (make 2)
Ch 3, sI st to form a ring. Round 1: Ch 1, 6 sc in ring, sl st to ch 1 (7) Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, 2 sc in each st around, sl st to ch 1 (14) Round 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in next st, \*sc in next st, 2 sc in next st\* repeat from \* around, sl st to ch 1 (21) Round 4: Ch 1, sctog, \*sc in next, sctog\* repeat from \* around, sl st to ch 1 (14) Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing to cozy.
Muzzle: with H Hook and CC2
Round 1: Ch 9, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 6 chains, 3 sc in last chain..working the bottom of the chains, sc across, 2sc in last st, sl st to 1st sc Round 2: Ch 1, sc around working 3 sc in each end, sl st to ch 1 Round 3: Repeat Round 2 Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing to cozy. Center the muzzle on the main color of the cozy.
Add Mouth and Nostrils.
I made two x's for nostrils and spaced them 2 sc apart in the second round of the muzzle. (top) w/blacl or brown to match your button choice. For the mouth, I used red or claret yarn and yarn needle. Make a smile between round 2 and 3 of the muzzle.(bottom)
Add buttons: 3/4 inch or 7/8 inch in size (black or brown)
You are all done!! That went fast and your pop or beverage will stay nice and cool.
