Cupcake Mary Jane Booties
To design this pattern, I started with ADHD Knitting's wonderful "Oh My, Baby!" Booties pattern, and amended it to two color taller bootie with the appearance of "socks" in a "Mary Jane shoe." Materials Needed: Size US6 (circular or straight needles), tapestry needle Yarn: Caron Simply Soft Eco (1 ball of each color will make several or the matching hat (see Naked Sheepcupcakehat). MC:BabyBlush CC:Wheat Special Skills: MN (Make Nubble) Pull loop through as to knit, then place loop on left needle next to the original stitch (now have 2 sts), Repeat 2 more times (3 total nubbles plus original st will be 4 total sts.) BO 3 sts knitwise --- viola "Nubble" Direction: With MC, CO 30 sts. Row 1 (WS): Purl across Row 2 (RS): \* K1, MN; Rep from \* 15 times Work in St. st (flat) for 13 rows (end on row 15 - WS row) Row 16 (RS): Change to CC, Knit Across Row 17 (Ws): K 20 sts, turn work, K 10 sts. Note: Working only these 10 sts. until indicated to pick up sts. along sides Rows 18-19: With CC, work 2 rows in Garter st. (staying on middle 10 sts) Row 20 (WS): Change to MC, P 10 Rows 21-26: Continue to work only Midle 10 sts. in MC in St. st. for 6 more rows (7 total rows in MC) Row 27 (Ws) Change to CC; P across 10 sts. Rows 28 - 31: K 4 rows in Garter st. WYF, PU 10 sts. P-wise; K last 10 sts. K next row across to the other side of the middle flap Repeat picking up sts. on this side, but PU K-wise and K rem. 10 sts. (50 total sts) Work these 50 sts. in Garter St. for 6 Rows Begin Decreases for Toe: Row 1: K2, K2tog, K20, K2tog, K20, K2tog, K2 Row 2: K across Row 3: K2, K2tog, K18, K2tog, K18, K2tog, K3 BO leaving a long tail to sew up bottom of foot and back of bootie. Optional: Embellish the "buckle" of the Mary Jane w/ a button or I made a small "cherry" to match the hat by crocheting a small ball or make a large knot w/ red or contrasting yarn.
