Cabbage Hat by AlpiKnit

All pictures Copyright @SilviaMen No images are within the Public Domain The Cabbage Hat is designed to look like a Roman Cabbage, a result best achieved with bottle and light green bulky weight yarn. The hat is worked in the round using Magic Loop method and it is knit from bottom up and inside out. Bottle green hem is worked in rib 1x1 and light green pointy body is worked in Raspberry (otherwise called Blueberry) stitch over a multiple of 4 stitches and across 4 rounds.

Instructions
With bottle green yarn cast on 56 sts using size 8mm [Us 11] circular needles. Place marker and join to work in the round. Work 10 rnds in rib 1x1 (or until piece measures approximately 7.5 cm [3 inches] ). Switch to light green yarn and begin pattern stitch: rnd 2: \*(k1, p1, k1 on same st), p3tog\*, rep. from \* to \* until end of rnd rnd 3: knit rnd 4: \*p3tog, (k1,p1,k1 on same st)\*, rep. from \* to \* until end of rnd Rep. rnds 1-4 of pattern two more times (piece should measure approximately16.5 cm [6 2 inches] from cast on]. Rep. rnd 1-2 one more time. Continue working in pattern at the same time decreasing 2 sts at the beginning and end of each rnd, as follows: rnd 1: ssk twice, knit until 4 sts remain on second needle, k2tog twice rnd 2: ssk twice, \*p3tog, (k1, p1, k1 on same st)\*, rep. from \* to \* until 4 sts remain on second needle, kztog twice rnd 3: rep. decreasing rnd 1 rnd 4: ssk twice, \*(k1, p1, k1 on same st), p3tog\*, rep. from \* to \* until 4 sts remain on second needle, kztog twice Rep. decreasing rnds 1-4 until 4 sts remain on needles. Break yarn leaving a 7.5 cm [3 inches] tail and thread it through live sts with a tapestry needle. Weave in all looseends. Turn the hat inside out and voila: your Cabbage Hat is cooked knitl!
