Basket Base

Handle

Place 12 live stitches on holder or scrap yarn. Return to 28 live stitches on holder at other end of basket. From INSIDE of basket, join yarn, leaving very long tail for seaming later. Work as for rows 30 - 72. Graft two live ends of the handle together (Row 76 from one side, Row 72 from the other). Take the basket handle and fold the outer 4-stitch columns from the edges together on the under side of the handle. Seam together the length of the handle from approximately Row 44 to Row 44. The handle will be twice as thick as the rest of the basket, and about 4 stitches wide. Weave in all ends.

CARROT

Carrot
Cast on 9 stitches. Divide onto 3 dpns and join. Stuff carrot as you go. Cut yarn, leaving a tail several inches long. Pass tail through 3 remaining stitches, pull tight. Trim tail to a pleasing length to serve as the root-end.
Carrot Top
Thread cast-on tail through the cast-on stitches at top of carrot, pull tight, weave end through several stitches and then hide it inside the carrot. Cut green yarn into 6 equal lengths. Using tapestry needle, pass green yarn through 2 stitches on the top of the carrot. Even up the ends, then crochet chain the doubled green yarn for 1 12 to 2 inches, pull ends through, and pull tight. Repeat around top of carrot until there are 5 crochet chains. Thread 6th green yarn through the base of the other 5 chains to draw them tightly together before completing the last green chain. Trim ends to pleasing lengths.
GRAPES

Grape (make 9)
MATERIALS: Set of 4 dpns size O or 1 (whatever you need to get a gauge that won't show the stuffing) Approximately 36 yards of sock yarn in light green, purple, 0r burgundy A small amount of brown sock yarn Stuffing material Tapestry needle.
ABBREVIATIONS:

Rnd 1 : knit Rnd 2 : kl, m1, k1, ml, kl on each needle Rnd 3 : knit Rnd 4 : k2, m1, k1, k1, k2 on each needle Rnd 5 - 12 : knit Stuff the grape before starting round 13. Rnd 13 : k2tog to last stitch, k1 Break yarn, pass tail through last round of stitches on needles, pull tight. Using tapestry needle, thread the caston tail through the cast on stitches and pull tight. Secure ends and hide them inside the grape.
Stem
Using the brown sock yarn held double (either with more brown, or with green), cast on 4 stitches. \* Knit 4-stitch I-cord for about 1 inch \* Drop the second strand of yarn and continue the I-cord in a single strand of brown yarn for about 1 inch. \* K2tog, then continue in 3-stitch I-cord for another 34 inch. \* K2tog, K1 \*K2tog Break yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing. Pull tail through last stitch, pulltight. Sew one grape onto the small end of the stem. Starting above the bottom grape, sew the remaining grapes onto the stem in pairs. Alternate the locations of the grape attachments on the stem as you go up, from right-and-left to front-and-back. jecure ends by weaving them generously into the stem and trimming closely.
