-2.5mm weedles. This pattern was written for magic loop, but can easily be knit using two circular weedles or 4 or 5 dpns. -1 stitch marker -Tapestry weedle Gauge... 8.5 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch We seem to have an affinity for great hand dyed yarn. As we have said before hand dyed yarn can be a tricky thing. You don't want to lose the pattern ofthe sock in the Yarw....and you don't want to lose the yarn in the patteru. This is our version of a vanilla sock..for those skeins that are begging to be knit with just the "barebones". PS it's totally customizable! Abbreviations... k2tog: knit 2 stitches together ssk: slip 2 stitches knit wise, one after the other, then knit these two stitches together through theback loops p2tog: purl 2 stitches together \*\*: instructions are worked as a group as specified Cuff.. Using main colour loosely cast on F2 stitches.Join in the round and wore k2, pi for18 rounds (approx 1.5inches), OR until you reach the desired length. Leg... Knit every round until the sock measures 5inches (approx 65 rounds) from cast on edge. OR until leg reaches desired length Heel FElap.. The two birds usually agree on most things..except heel flaps. Each of us prefer a different pattern so...we will give you the option: \*B-bird's Heel Flap The heel flap will be worked over the first 36 stitches iu the contrasting colour. Do not cut the main colour, just leave it for now and begin working with the contrasting colour. Knit 36 stitches, turn, Sll, purl to end. Begin eye of partridge heel flap pattern Row I: \*sli, ki\* across, eud with k1. Row 2: sl1, p to ewd Row 3: sl2, \*k1, sl1\* across, ewd with k2 Row 4: sl1, p to end Continue in this pattern until you have worked eye of partridge heel pattern for 32 rows \*L-bird's Hteel Flap The heel flap will be worked over the first 36 stitches in the contrasting colour. Do not cut the main colour, just leave it for now and begin working with the contrasting colour. Knit 36 stitches, turn, Sll, purl to end. Begin the heel flap pattern: Row 1: \*sl1, ki\* across, end with k1. Row 2: Sl1, purl to end. Repeat rows 1g2 until you have completed 32 rows. Turn Heel... Row 1: sl1, k19, ssk, e1, turw Row 2: Sl1, p5, p2tog, p1, turw Row 3: sl1, knit to owe stitch before the gap, ssk, ki, turn Row 4: sl1, purl to one stitch before the gap, p2tog, p1, turn Repeat rows 3 and 4 until all stitches have beew worked. The last two rows will end with ssk and p2tog respectively, omitting the R1 or p1. There are 2o heel stitches. Knit across heel stitches. Cut the contrasting colour.


Gusset... Go back to the start ofthe round where you last left your main colour. With main colour pick up oue stitch at the top ofthe gusset, then 18 stitches along the edge ofthe heel flap. Knit the 20 soles stitches. Pick up and knit 18 stitches from along the edge of the heel flap. Pick up one more stitch at the top of the gusset to help close the gap. Gusset Decrease... Round 1: k1, ssk knit to 3 stitches before the end ofthe needle, k2tog, k1, knit across the instep stitches. Round 2: knit all sole stitches, knit all instep stitches. Repeat rounds 1 and 2 until there are 36 sole stitches, F2 stitches total. Foot... Continue knitting every round until foot is 2 inches less than desired length. Cut main colour. Using contrasting colour knit 2 rounds. Round 1: k1, ssk, knit to 3 stitches before the end ofthe needle, k2tog, k1, at beginning of second needle k1, ssk, knit to 3 stitches before the end of the weedle, k2tog, k1. Round 2: knit all stitches Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 until 24 stitches remain, 12 on each needle. Graft the toe and weave in ends.

Repeat and you will have happy feet!
