Deep in the Meadow.. by Hennifer Duce

A semi-circular shawl inspired by the Hunger Games character Prim. The name of this shawl is taken from the song that Katniss sings to her sister and later to Rue. Stripes and lace alternate leading to a simple knitted lace border. Knitted from the top down in increasing rings. Instructions are included for two sizes with a choice of using nupps or beads, Or neither. Deep in the meadow, under the willow A bed of grass, a soft green pillow Lay down your head, and close your eyes And when they open, the sun will rise.... Here is the place where I Love you. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins Yarn Requirements: Main Colour (MC): 1 ball of Rowan Fine Lace in Pistachio (Ochre) 244m/(400m) Contrast Colour (CC): 1 ball of Rowan Fine Lace in Porcelain 144m/(400m) Or other lace weight yarn in contrasting colours. Careful consideration about colour choices needs to be made. A strong contrast will result in bolder stripes. If the colours are too similar, the stripe pattern will not be distinctive enough. A good contrast can be created by using a neutral yarn with a colouredyarn. Finished size: 63.5cm(25")x 142cm (56") 47cm (63.5cm) [18.5"(25")] Notions:

3.75 mm circular needles with at least an 80 cm cable 0.6mm crochet hook optional (only needed if using beads) Beads optional -(390 (520) beads size 6/o or 8/o) these could be used instead of Nupps
Pattern notes:
The two yarns are used to create a stripy effect. To prevent puckering along the right side edges make sure that the last stitch in the second row is not pulled too tight, carry the yarn up the right hand side loosely. Instructions for a larger version of the shawl are given in brackets () where different to the smaller size. A note on nupps: Although the instructions work nupps in one row, this can be done over two rows if desired by purling through the 5 loops on a wrong side row. They also use more yarn. Using Beads: Place beads where nupps would be found. See Chart A for instructions. lllustrated instructions for how to place beads can be found on P.7 Nupp and bead free: Knit the stitch where the nupps would be created
