Bond ISM shorties by Tash Bentley

I wanted a pair of shorties knitted from a highly patterned wool and knit on my Bond ISM, but all the flat knit shortie/longies patterns I could find were in two halves left and right with the seam up the middle which would have jarred on the yarn I wanted to use. These are made in two pieces front and back and include short rows for the back. Following these instructions will make a large pair of shorties, suitable for a 2 year old ISM front and back shorties ISM or USM Keyplate 3 Aran weight wool Extra weights Latch tool or seed stitcher Stockinette stitch is used throughout as this is what knitting machines do as standard. RC - Row Counter number Back Cast on 50 rows - closed edge cast on. I used e-wrap cast on throughout Place the Weighted Hem and Cord or Cast On Comb into postion Knit 7 rows - RC 7 Reform stitches to make 2x2 rib 6 rows deep Knit 18 rows - RC 25 Short rows Put the outside 5 needles on both sides into hold position Weave the yarn over and under the needles in hold to bring it to the first needle still in working position Knit 14 short rows moving 2 needles on the side away from the carrige into holding position after each pass of the carriage. Making sure to wrap the yarn around the last needle in hold position before knitting that row. RC-39 Put the needles on side away from the carriage into Forward Working position with the latches open Knit 1 row RC -40 Repeat for the remaining needles Knit 1 row RC - 41 Knit 20 rows RC - 61 Legs Cast off the 4 middle needles leaving 23 needles in Working Position on each side. I used the chain cast off and put the remaining stitch onto the next needle and knitted that stitch manually. Put the stitches on the side furthest from the carriage into hold position, as we now need to knit only the stitches nearest the carriage. Reset the row counter RC - 0 \*Knit 20 rows RC - 20 you may need to add extra weights to help the needle kniw as the hem wil now be hanging at an angle Reform the last 3 rows to make a 1x1 rib Place the stitches into hold position Move the carriage to the far side of the needles in hold position with the unknitted stitches Start a new piece of yarn Reset Row Counter RC - 0 Repeat as above from \* Cast off both sides separately. I used a back stitch cast off as it I find it matches the e-wrap cast on. Remove work from machine Front Cast on 50 rows - closed edge cast on. The two pieces will look different sizes due to the short rows on the back but should stitch together up the seems as a perfect match.

Make an i-cord for the waist and thread it through the rib sections to finish. Please contact me if you find any errors in this pattern or need any clarification of it This patern is avaliable for free from htp:/www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ismshortiesRavelry
