Emily Socks
Mapleweave Designs
Introduction
This is my VERY first pattern that I've designed. As a Sock Knitters Anonymous (SKA) member on Ravelry in June 2008, one of the challenges was to design your own socks. I had just finished knitting the Dream in Color Shrug by Kay Dahlquist and love the stitch pattern. Trying to design my own socks, I found a similar stitch pattern in Super Stitches Knitting by Karen Hemingway. The stitch pattern is called Traveling Vine Lace. Emily is my dream-come-true. So, this first design is named after her. She also modeled for the photography sessions. Yarn choices... I like tightly twisted yarn. Other good choices include Socks That Rock Lightweight, Hazelknits Artisan, The Sanguine Gryphon Bugga or Skinny Bugga. Gauge..(I hate swatching!l) But the gauge for my
Cuff
Cast on 60 stitches, dividing into 30 stitches on each needle. Join in the round, be careful not to twist the stitches. Work in k2,p2 rib for 1.5 inches or until desired length is reached.

Supplies
400 yards of Fingering Weight Yarn. Sample knitted with Dream In Color Smooshy in Deep Seaflower 2-US#2 $(2.75\ \mathsf{m m})$ Circular Needles Tapestry Needle Stitch Marker sample pair was about $7~\%$ stitches per inch. This pattern can easily be adjusted for sizing either by changing needle size or for a bigger size, add a knit stitch between pattern repeats. This pair of socks fit my feet, wearing 8.5-sized shoes.

Leg
Follow chart, repeating the pattern repeat 6 times for each row. All even-numbered rows are plain knits. Repeat lace pattern (16 rows) 3 times or more if you would like a longer leg. If you don't read charts, these are the written instructions for the lace pattern. All evennumbered rows are plain knits. R1: [k, k2tog, k4, yo, k, yo, ssk] 6 times R3: [k, k2tog, k3, yo, k, yo, kl, ssk] 6 times R5: [k, k2tog, k2, yo, k, yo, k2, ssk] 6 times R7: [k, k2tog, kl, yo, k, yo, k3, ssk] 6 times R9: [k, k2tog, yo, k, yo, k4, ssk] 6 times Rll: [k, k2tog, kl, yo, k, yo, k3, ssk] 6 times R13: [k, k2tog, k2, yo, k, yo, k2, ssk] 6 times R15: [k, k2tog, k3, yo, k, yo, kl, ssk] 6 times Repeat R1 - R16 3 times or to desired leg length, ending with R16.
