by Hanna Valkila Sizes: women/teenagers (men) Yarn: Novita Nalle (75% wool, 25% polyamide, 150g = 390m) and / or Gjestal Maija (85% wool, 15% polyamid) Colorways used making the pattern (\*\*Look the notes\*\*): Novita Nalle 099 black about 100g Novita Nalle 219 orange about 30g Gjestal Maija 216 yellow about 30g Needles: 3 mm douple-pointed needles, easier with 5 needles. 6th needle might be useful to the heei, but is not mandatory. Gauge: About 26sts and 34rows on 10cm X 10cm on non-stretched stockinette

Appreviations: SKP - Slip 1 stitch, knit 1, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted Notes: Knitted from a toe up. I've used re-enforced heel: On right side of the work, \*slip stitch without knitting, knit 1\* rep \*-\* until the end of the row. On wrong side of the work, purl. Weights are estimated roughly upwards. For making 1 pair size teenager (shoe size 42) and 2 pairs of men (shoe size 46) I used 1 skein of yellow Maija, about 50grams (1/3 skein) orange Nalle and 270grams (1,8 skeins) of black Nalle.

Instructions:

CO 20sts on orange yarn using Turkish cast-on (there are instructions all over the internet). After CO make 1 row stockinette and divide sts to 4 needles (5 sts each). Increases are done at 1sts away from the start of 1st and 3rd needle and 1sts away from the end of the 2nd and 4th needle. Increases in every row 6(7) times and on every second 3(4) times = 56(64)sts. 2 cm after the last increase, start the chart 1(3) for the top of the sock (1st and 2nd needle) and chart 2(4) to the bottom (3rd and 4th needle). On the second sock, use the charts as a mirror-image. When finished with the charts and about 9cm to go to the back of the heel, increase 1 stitch in the end of the 4th needle and in the start of the 3rd needle. Repeat increases on 4th row, 8th row 11th row and 13th row after the first increases. When about 4,5cm to the back of the heel separate center 12sts from the bottom of the sock (6sts from the end of the 3rd needle and 6sts from the start of the 4th needle) to be the heel-flap and continue with these 12sts, always knitting the first and the last stitch, 16(20)rows. Then, when on the right side of the work, knit 12sts, pick up with yarn 8(10)sts on the left side of the heel-flap, knit 1 from the sts waiting on the 4th needle, pass last picked up stitch over the knitted one. Turn the work and work the heel: Slip one unknitted, purl 19sts, then pick up with yarn 8(10)sts and put the last picked up sts together with the next stitch on the 3rd needle. Turn. \*Slip 1st stitch, knit to the other end slipping the last 1 stitch, knit 1 from the 4th needle, pass slipped stitch over the knitted one. Turn. Slip 1st stitch, purl to another end, purl the last stitch together with one from the 3rd needle. Turn.\* Repeat \*-\* until no stitches waiting at the 3rd and 4th needle. Continue on the right side of the work now knitting stockinette with all 4 needles. Pick up one stitch between the 4th and 1st needle and SKP this with the last one at the 4th needle. Also pick up one stitch between the 2nd and 3rd needle and knit together with the first one

on 3rd needle. Continue stockinette with these 56(64)sts 5 rows. Then start the leg as k2, p2 -rib. Stripe the leg when about 7cm to the desired height: 5rows orange, 4rows black, 5rows yellow, rest with black.
