Beatlemania Knitting Needle Case Pattern: Intermediate Design Featuring Stranded Color Work

Pattern illustration

Beatlemania Needle Case Design by Jennifer P., Chart courtesy of Abigail B.

Difficulty: Intermediate For the true Beatles fan, this knitting needle pouch gives you a place to store your needles in true Beatles style. While knitting, the unused color is carried across the back. Therefore, it is necessary to have a lining to prevent the needles from poking through or getting stuck in the floats. The knitting aspect requires little experience; however, simple sewing skills are required to attach the lining and the back of the piece. SIZE One size Height: 6 inches Length: 13 inches

PATTERN NOTES

The front is knit using stranded color work, and lined with coordinating fabric so your needles don't poke through or get stuck in the floats. The back is plain fabric. You can either sew it by hand, or run it through the sewing machine, always making sure the fabric is the top layer and going slowly to avoid ruining your knitting and/or sewing machine. Begin on the right side of the chart for right side rows, and the left side for wrong side rows. Think, \*right, right" and “left, wrong".

FINISHING Weave in ends. Cut a6" x13" piece of coordinating fabric, hemming edges if necessary. Pin and sew to WS of knitting. This forms the lining. Cut another $6^{\,\circ}\times13^{\,\circ}$ piece of coordinating fabric. Hem one short side, or cut one side using pinking shears. With the right side of the knitting and the right side of this piece together, sew across two long sides and one short side. Trim allends, and turn right side out. Using an iron, press the back of the pouch. Lightly steam the knitted side of the pouch, being careful not to keep the iron in one spot for too long. Use with pride!
