Well, some of it was true! London calling at the top of the dial And after all this, won't you give me a smile? London Calling I never felt so much alive, alive, alive... - The Clash Phoney beetles? . : . Transfiguration class in the Fall 2010 Harry Potter Knit & Crochet House Cup on Ravelry is changing beetles into buttons. Hence, a beetle (button) band hat using linen stitch and stockinette, knit in superbulky yarn. Size: Small (Large), to fit $20^{\prime\prime}\,(22^{\prime\prime})$ head circumference. Yarn: Malabrigo Rasta ( $100\%$ merino wool, 90 yards), 1 skein.
Other Materials:
US 15 $40^{\prime\prime}$ needles or size to get gauge. US 15 straight needle or size to get gauge. Tapestry needle. Two $7/8^{\prime\prime}$ buttons. Matching sewing thread and needle. Gauge: 8 st x 14 rows/4" in stockinette; 8 st x 20 rows/4" in linen stitch.

Designer's Notes:
The linen stitch used for the band is a bit less stretchy than stockinette; both sizes call for the same size band, which can be adjusted when sewing on the functional buttons. The crown of the size Small is shallower than the size Large.
