Simple Shawl

This rectangular piece may be used as a shawl, scarf or until transformed in a capeleti with a pin shawl. It's a very simple to do and good for beginners that want knit something bigger than a scarf. This above have knitted with two yarns, the cotton and acrylic blend on garter stitch give soft touch and elasticity to piece. The most important in this pattern is balance among the mixture of yarns and needle size. Yardage: 100% cotton yarn (Fingering / 4 ply (14 wpi) and 100% acrilic yarn (Light Fingering / 3 ply). The piece shown above was knitted with one skein Anne by Circulo Yarns 150 g (546 yards /499 meters) e 01 cone Brisa by Pingouin 250 g (1362.50 yards/1250m), but remain a lot of both yarns. Needles: US 10 1%2 / 6,5mm Lenght: 140 cm Width: 40 a 42 cm Gauge: isn't critical.
Instructions:
Cast on 70 st and knit garter stitch as follow: Row 1: knit Row 2: Slip the first stitch purlwise, knit all other stitches until the end of row. Repeat row 2 until the desired leght Finishing: Knit the first and second sts, on right needle pass the first stitch over second, then \* knit the next stich on left needle, on right needle pass the first st over the second\* repeat \* to \* until the end. Cut the yarn. You may put the fringe or a lace border. Note! Slipping the first stitch of every row purlwise when you work garter stitch create an decorative edge, chain selvedge, on the piece avoiding wide stitches on row beginnings.
