Materials Needed:

- 1 skein of Zen String Lotus Toes Sock yarn $100\%$ super wash BFL wool, 40o yards (medium shown in Summertime Rolls / Large shown in Lufaloo) - Size US 2 (set of 5) double-pointed needles or needles needed to obtain gauge Difficulty: Intermediate Gauge: 7.5 sts/10.5 rows per inch in stockinette Finished Size: Women's Medium (Women's Large) Directions for larger size are in parentheses. Cast on 50 (60) stitches loosely using a long-tail cast on. Medium: Arrange on needles so that there are 15 sts on needles 1 and 3, and 10 sts on needles 2 and 4. Large: Arrange on needles so that there are 15 sts on each needle.

Leg Cuff:

Being careful not to twist, start working in the round. Rounds 1-8(1o): (kitbl, p1, k2, p1) around. Round 2: (kitbl, p1, k1, YO, k1, p1) around. 60(72) sts Round 3: (kitbl, p1, k3, p1) around. Round 4: (kitb, p1, k3, then, insert your needle in the $3^{r d}$ st on the right needle and passit over the first two, p1) around. 50(60) sts.

Repeat the last 4 rounds 5(6) times more (or as many needed to get the cuff length desired). Heel Flap: (also shown in chart B) Row 1: Sl1, p1, k2, p1. (kitbl, p1, k2, p1) across needles 1 and 2, but K the last st. Turn work. 25(30) sts (You can work the heel flap on one needle if you prefer.) Row 2α (Ws) Sl1, p1, YO., p1, k1. (pitbl, k1, pi, YO, p1, k1) across. Purl the last st. 30(36) sts Row 3: Sl1, p1, k3, p1. (kitbl, p1, k3, p1) across, but K the last st. Row 4: Sl1, p3, move those 3 p sts back to the left needle. Insert right needle in the last p st made. Pass that last p st over the first two. Move the two purl sts left back to the right needle. K1, (pitbl, k1, p3, then move those 3 p sts back to the left needle. Insert right needle in the last p st made. Pass that last p st over the first two. Move the two purl sts left back to the right needle, k1) across. Purl the last st. 25(30) sts. Repeat Rows 1-4 6(7) times more. Turning the Heel: (if you haven't already, work these sts across one needle) Row 1: (RS) Sl 1, k 12(16), ssk, k1. Turn. Row 2: Sl 1, p2(5), p2tog, p1. Turn. Row 3: Sl 1, k 3(6), ssk, k1. Turn. Row 4: Sl 1, p4(7), p2tog, p1. Turn. Row 5: Sl 1, k 5(8), ssk, k1. Turn. Row 6: Sl 1, p6(9), p2tog, p1. Turn. Row 7: Sl1, k7(10), ssk, k1. Turn. Row 8: Sl 1, p8(11), p2tog, p1. Turn. Row 9: Sl 1, k9(12), ssk, k1. Turn. Row 10: SIl 1, p10(13), p2tog, p1. Turn. Row 11: Sl 1, k11(14), ssk(ssk, k1). Turn.

Gusset:

Round 1: For medium: Sl1, m1, k across. For large: K across. 14(18)sts Then with another needle, pick up and knit 14(16) sts along the side of the heel flap (this is needle 1). Keeping in the established pattern of the leg cuff, work Round 1 over the instep (needles 2 and 3). Then pick up 14(16) sts along the other side of the heel flap. Using the same needle, k 7(9) sts from the heel. Transfer the 7(9) sts left of the heel to needle 1. 21(25) sts on each of needles 1 and 4, 15(15) sts on needle 2, and 10(15) sts on needle 3. Round 2: K around, keeping in the pattern as set for needles 2 and 3. Round 3: K to last 3 sts on needle 1, k2tog, k1. Keeping in the pattern as set, work across needles 2 and 3. On needle 4, k1, sk. K across. Repeat rounds 2 and 3 until 30 sts remain across needles 1 and 4.

Foot:

K around, keeping in the pattern as set for needles 2 and 3 until foot measures about $1\,\forall2^{\prime\prime}$ less than desired length, ending with round 4 of the pattern stitch. Toe: For Medium: Round 1: K to last 3 sts on needle 1, k2tog, k1. On needle 2, k12, ssk, k across rest of needle and across needle 3. On needle 4, k1, ssk. K across. Rearrange sts on needles 2 and 3 so that there are 12 sts on eachneedlle. Round 2: K around. Round 3: K to last 3 sts on needle 1, k2tog, k1. K across needles 2 and 3. On needle 4, k1, ssk. K across.

Round 4: K around.

Round 5: K to last 3 sts on needle 1, k2tog, k1. K across needles 2 and 3. On needle 4, k1, sk. K across. Now there are 12 sts on each needle.

For Large:

Round 1: K around. Round 2: K to last 3 sts on needle 1, k2tog, k1. On needle 2, k1, ssk, k across the rest of needle 2 and 3 until last 3 sts on needle 3. K2tog, k1. On needle 4, k1, ssk. K across.

Round 3: K around.

Repeat rounds 6 and 7(2 and 3) until there are 7 sts left on each needle. Using needle 4, knit across needle 1 so that all the sole stitches are on one needle. Transfer needle 2 sts to Chart A: (To be worked for leg cuff and instep)
