A pair of simple sock for which I made the pattern stitch on the go, was actually the beginning of this pattern. That simple pattern is not unique and not special at all, in fact it was a sock stitch pattern which I have seen in socks made by my mother in law many years ago. Do you want to try? Round 1 and 2: knit all stitches. Round 3, 4, and 5: knit 2, purl 2. Repeat these 5 rounds as you wish. The way it is now worked out for these socks, in two colors, using slipped stitches, I found it special enough to be used in the first part of this mystery project. The other parts of the socks and name appeared to me On thego.
The pattern will come in 3 clues:
1.3.2014: Get your basket (cuff and first part of the leg) 8.3.2014: Tools ready? (last part of the leg, heel and guess) 15.3.2014: Berry time (last part of the foot and toe part)

Two or more colors of fingering weight / 4ply sock yarn, about 400 - 420 meter /100 gram. The first clue will need the most CC.

Sizes:
The sock is knitted in EU shoe size 38/39 and (41/42) or if you like 64 and (72) stiches wide. The numbers for the bigger size is written in de pattern between ( ). The length can be easily enlarged or shortened if you wish. In fact the pattern can be knitted in every size with a total number of stitches dividable by 8.
Gauge:
I'll never knit a swatch for socks, with the yarn in my hands, I'll look for the right needle size and when the cuff is knitted it is easy to see if the gauge is right. For whom is interested in gauge, swatch, stitches and yarn I can tell that my socks and the socks in the pictures are knitted with the following yarns. Size 39 (red and varied blue): Red hand dyed yarn, nog sure but probably Trekking XXL and Regia Silk 4-ply which I hand dyed myself. Size 41/42 (varied pink and purple): Hand dyed Multicolours, by Wolletjes-shop and Sprint by G-B Wolle. The most common gauge of these yarns is 28-30 sts. per 4 inch.
