Size: Pattern written for a size 11 men sock. Yarn: Sockotta - 1 ball 417 yards $\left.\right/100\mathrm{g}$ Pattern willbe beter seen if yarn is not heavily variegated. Slow color changes, or plain. Cast on 64 stitches on needle US2 $(2.75\mathrm{mm})$ using a long tail cast-on with needle size 8 or 2 stacked DPNS US2.
Knit in a 1/1 rib $({^{*}\mathrm{kl}}/{\mathrm{p}}1{^{*}}$ rep) pattern for $\sim3~1/4$ inches $(8\;\mathrm{cm})$ , after joining in the round, taking care of not twisting. Mark the beginning of the round with a marker. It is OK to knit the few initial stitches with both the yarn and the yarn tail.
Pattern: work the pattern for ${\sim}4$ inches ( $10.5\;\mathrm{cm})$ , or 64 rows.

I will knit 10 stitches from the heel stitches with a needle, change needle, knit remaining 10 stitches out of the heel, knit in the back loop the 20 stitches from the gusset (twisting them) on needle 1 (30 stitches will be on needle 1), start with row 1 from pattern on needle 2 (16 stitches), continue pattern through needle 3 (16 stitches), knit the 20 stitches from the gusset twisting tem (knitting from back loop) and the 10 remaining stitches from the heel on needle 4 (30 stitches will be on needle 4) Place a stitch marker. Knitting in the round will resume. Next round: Needle 1: Knit all stitches but 3, k2 tog, knit 1 Needle 2: knit with row X of pattern $({\mathrm{X}}{=}2)$ Needle 3: knit with row X of pattern $({\mathrm{X}}{=}2)$ Needle 4: k1, ssk, knit the remaining 25 stitches Following round; Needle 1: knit all stitches Needle 2: knit with row X of pattern $(\mathrm{X}{=}3)$ Needle 3: knit with row X of pattern $({\mathrm{X}}{=}3)$ Needle 4: knit all stitches Repeat the 2 rounds above continuing with the proper pattern row on needle 2 and 3 until there are 16 stitches left on each needle.
