Two Scarves, Three Skeins - Ken and Clayton
Two Scarves, Three Skeins.
Great for a beginner project or to create last minute gifts, this pattern creates two striped scarves out of three 100 gram/220 yard skeins of worsted weight yarn. Named for two of the biggest Georgia Bulldog fans I know, both scarves are in garter stitch (each row is knitted), which gives them a nice weight and feel. The length of the circular needles accommodates the length of the scarf, and you will be working back and forth on the circular needles. Each finished scarf measures 4" wide, and 56" long.
Scarf No. 1 - Ken Pattern.
Cast on 270 stitches (l used the long tail cast on method) with Color A (Black) and the size 8 (5mm) circular needles. Knit 12 rows with Color A (Black) Change to Color C (Red), and knit 6 rows Change to Color B (Gray), and knit 6 rows Change back to Color C (Red), and knit 6 rows Change back to Color A (Black), and knit 12 rows Cast off/Bind off using Color A (Black). Bind off with the traditional method - knit two stitches, and pull the knitted stitch on the right over the knitted stitch on the left. Knit your next stitch, and pull the knitted stitch on the right over the knitted stitch on the left. Continue, until you have one stitch left on your right needle; cut your yarn, leaving about a 4-6 inch tail and pull your yarn tail through the loop. The long tail cast on and the traditional bind off will mirror each other making your edges similar. Weave in ends, and follow finishing/blocking instructions.

Both scarves are knitted using the same size circular needles and the same three skeins of yarn.

Finishing Instructions.
Each scarf is bound off using the traditional method, but if you tend to be a tight knitter you may want to bind off using a size larger needle - in this case, size 9 (5.5mm) knitting needles. You don't want the edge too tight or the scarf will not be able to stretch naturally. After weaving in your ends, block your scarves and lightly spray with water (this wil help to set your stitches). Allow to dry completely.
Scarf No. 2 - Clayton Pattern.
