Lace Panel 2 By Vicki Johnson May 2016 This is a top for the 17"' tall Monster High doll. It is worked flat, top down, and then joined to work in the round midway through. There are a couple of lace panel options.
Materials:
4-ply Fingering-weight yarn (Teal top is Busby Superwool; Off-white top is Red Heart Heart & Sole) Size 2.0 (2.75mm) needles for working flat and double-pointed needles for working in the round One or two snaps for back opening.
Abbreviations:
co - cast on k - knit p- purl yo - yarn over m1l - make one st(s) - stitch(es) sl - slip a stitch knitwise psso - pass the slipped stitch over the knit stitch k2tog - knit the next two stitches together rib/ribbing - k1, p1 for one row, knit the knits and purl the purls for the following row seed stitch - knit the purl stitches and purl the knit stitches Gauge: 20 sts in stockinette stitch = 2-1/2" Directions: The first 13 rows are worked flat and will be done in ribbing, then joined in the round to work the lace panel. Co 44 sts (I used backwards loop cast on) · Row 1 -2: kl, p1 across Row 3: K1, p1 for 8 sts; bind off 10 sts; work in rib for the next 9 sts for a total of 10 sts; bind off 10 sts; work in rib for the next 5 sts for a total of 6 sts (24 sts) Row 4: k1, p1 for the first 6 sts; co 4 sts; k1, p1 for the next 10 sts; co 4 sts; k1, p1 for the next 8 sts (24 sts, 8 ch sts) Row 5 - 7: kl, pl across (32 sts) Row 8: k1, p1 for the first 16 sts; (m1, purl the next st) twice; k1, p1 for the next 14 sts (34 sts) · Row 9 - 13: k1, p1 across s(34 sts) This should come to just below the breast area. Now the top will be joined to work in the round using double-pointed needles. Put 12 sts on the first needle, 9 sts on the second needle, 13 sts on the third needle. Once that is done put the last stitch from the third needle onto the first needle and knit that stitch and the next st together. Knit the rest of the sts (33 sts). The needles should be set up 12-9-12. The second needle with the 9 sts will be the needle that the lace panel is worked on. Needles 1 and 3 will be the k12 sts. In the directions below the middle section in italics is the second needle. Lace Panel Option 1: (Teal color top) Round 1: K12 - k4, yo, sl 1, kl, psso, k3 - k12 Round 2: knit Round 3: K12 - k2, k2tog, yo, kl, yo, sl 1, kl, psso, k2 -k12 Round 4: knit Round 5: k 12 - kl, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, sl 1, kl, psso, kl -k12 Round 6: knit Round 7: k12 - k2tog, yo, k5, yo, sl 1, kl, psso - k12 Round 8: knit Repeat the above 8 rounds one more time for a total of 16 rounds. Rounds 17 - 18: knit (33 sts) Round 19: kl, p1 around (beginning seed stitch) Round 20: p1, k1 around Bind off in k1, p1. Sew on one or two snaps to the back of the top for a closure. One snap will leave a small opening below it, two will completely close the back. Lace Panel Option 2: The setup is the same as above. (Off-white color top) Round 1: k12 - k3, yo, k3, yo, k3 - k12 Round 2: knit Round 3: k12 - k4, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k4 - k12 Round 4 knit Repeat the above 4 rounds three more times for a total of 16 rounds. Work rounds 17 to 20 above and bind of as above.
