Dirghagama a little baby cardigan I wanted to make a cardigan that would be the perfect baby shower gift to give to anyone expecting a little girl. Originally made for the baby of a lovely couple, who study the Dirgha Agama, this had to be the name of the pattern as well. The Dirgha Agama means 'a long (dirgha) discourse of Buddha (agama)' in Sanskrit and is a collection of 48 sutras, or rather records of the oral teachings of the Buddha from the 8th century. So now you know!

Sizes: 6 months
Finished measurements: before blocking: 45cm (18") circumference chest x 23cm (9") long and after blocking: 48cm (19") circumference chest x 23cm (9") long
Materials:
Yarn: Rowan Purelife British Sheep Breeds Chunky 1 ball, 100g (3.53 ounces), 110m (120 yards), This design uses the Blue Faced Leicester colourway. Needles: 6mm / US 10 circular needles (it is possible to use straight needles if you prefer) Notions: tapestry needle for weaving in ends, blocking wire/pins, 6 stitch markers (2 of one colour (A) + 4 of another colour (B)) and 100cm (40"), 1cm (1/2") wide ribbon. Gauge: The stockinette is 12 stitches per 10cm / 4" after blocking. It is very important to get the gauge right as this is a 1 ball project and uses exactly 1 ball of the recommended yarn.
