MATERIALS AND TOOLS
1x 50g ball 4ply baby wool 1 pair 3.25mm needles, 1 set 3.25mm dpn Needle for sewing up TENSION 28sts to 10cm using 3.25mm needles and st st.

approx = approximately; beg = begin/ning; cm = centimetres; cont = continue; dec = decrease, decreasing; foll = follows, following; in = inches; inc = increase; increasing; K = knit; P= purl; patt =pattern; psso = pass slipped stitch over; rem = remain/ing; rep = repeat; sl = slip; sl st = slip stitch; st st = stocking stitch - knit right side rows and purl wrong side rows; tog = together; yfwd = yarn forward (bring yarn under needle then over into knitting position to make a stitch);
PATTERN
HAT Using 3.25mm pair of needles, cast on 25sts. 1't row: knit. 2nd row: sl 1, k to end. 3'd row: knit. 4th row: sl 1, kto end. 5th row: knit. 6th row: sl 1, kto end. 7th row: knit. 8th row: sl 1, k7, p to end. 9th row: sl 1, kto end. 10th row: sl 1, k7, p to end. 11th row: sl 1, kto end. 12th row: sl 1 , k7, p to end. Last 12 rows form pattern. Rep last 12 rows until work measures approx. 30cm, finish with 11th row. Cast off. (approx. 11 patterns) Sew cast on and cast off edges together. Garter st edge becomes the brim and sts are picked up around the top edge to knit crown.
Start Crown
Using set of 3.25mm dpn, right side facing pick up 99sts evenly around top edge. (33sts on each needle) 1't round: knit. 2"d round: (k2tog, k7) rep to end of round. (88sts) 3'd round: knit. 4th round: (k2tog, k6) rep to end of round. (77sts) 5th round: knit. 6th round: (k2tog, k5) rep to end of round. (66sts) Cont to dec in every 2nd round until 11sts rem. (Working 1 less st between dec each time) Next round: knit. Break off yarn and thread through rem sts. Pull up to close gap. Sew in end on Ws. Sew in all loose ends.
BOOTS
Toe
Using yarn left attached, pick up 36sts along side of work. 1t row: (WS) purl. 2nd row: k2tog, rep to end of row. (18sts) 3rd row: purl. 4th row: k2tog, rep to end of row. (9sts) 5th row: purl. Break off yarn, (leave about 20cm for sewing up) and thread through sts, pull up tightly. Foot (back half) Pick up 36sts along other side of work (opposite to toe) 1"t row: (Ws) k12, p1, k10, p1, k12. 2nd row: knit. Rep last 2 rows 4 more times. Next row : k12, p1, k10, p1, k12.
1st row: k14, k2tog tbl, k4, k2tog, k14. 2nd row: k12, p1, k8, p1, k12. 3rd row: k14, k2tog tbl, k2, k2tog, k14. 4th row: k12, p1, k6, p1, k12. 5th row: k14, k2tog tbl, k2tog, k1, k2tog tbl, turn. 6th row: p1, k4, p2tog, turn. 7th row: k5, k2tog tbl, turn. Rep rows 6 & 7 until 11 sts rem. Next row: p1, k4, p2tog, turn. Next row: k5, k2tog tbl, k1. Cast off in knit, but p3tog at beg and end of row.
Sew up seam along top of boot, from toe and along cast on and cast off edges of front half of foot.
