Crochet Provisional Cast On (CP)

Using waste yarn and crochet hook, make one chain for each stich, and add 5 or 6 more. Break yarn and put a safety pin or locking stitch marker in the last loop so i won't unravel. Snug up. Beginning in third chain, andusing working yar, pick upone stitch through each of the bumps on the back of the chain.Continueuntil you have the needed number of stitches.

Notes:

Basic I-Cord:

Using a dpn, CO required number of stitches. Don't turn the work. Slide the stitches back along the dpn so that the working yarn is on the left side and the first stitch cast on is on the right end of the needle. Pull the yarn around the back of the stitches. Using a second DPN knit the first stitch. Repeat until the I-cord is as long as you want.

Markers:

I like to place markers between my pattern repeats, makes it easier to know just where I am.
