Primavera fingerless mitts
designed by Stephanie Papik, Knotty By Nature Fibre Arts Inspired by my husbands hand-dyed silk, these cabled fingerless mitts will make anyone feel as lovely and graceful as Ludovico Einaudi's piano compositions, as played in Knotty By Nature.

This pattern has been modified for Gemini silk merino, dk weight. Yarn: 100g of 4/2 Spun Silk, worsted weight - hand dyed by Ryan at Knotty By Nature (100g of Gemini silk merino, dk weight - hand dyed by Ryan at Knotty By Nature Gauge: 18 stitches per 4 inches (24 stitches per 4 inches) Needles: 3.75 mm 40 inch cable needle, knit using magic loop Notions: cable needle, stitch markers. Right Hand
Row 1: knit Row 2: knit to the 3rd cable sequence (p1, k6, pl), at k2 of cable sequence, pm, ml, k3, ml, pm, knit to the end of the row. Increase every 4'h row, until there are 19 stitches between the stitch markers. (Gemini silk/wool version: Increase every 4" row until there are 11 stitches between the stitch markers. Knit for 10 rows.)
Left Hand
Row 1: knit Row 2: knit to the 1" cable sequence (p1, k6, p1), at k2 of the cable sequence, pm, m1, k3, m1. Pm, knit to the end of the row. Increase every 4th row, seven times until there are 19 stitches between the stitch markers. (Gemini silk/wool version: Increase every 4" row until there are 11 stitches between the stitch markers Knit for 10 rows.) For both hands, divide hand from thumb Place 19 (11) stiches between stitch markers on a stitch holder. CO 4 stitches onto right needle and join. Knit in the round until hand measures two inches. Purl one row, knit one row, purl one row. The next row, k2tog, yo, repeat until end. Purl one row, knit one row, purl one row, picot bind off last row. Picot bind off: BO 3 stitches, \*slip st on right needle back to left needle, CO 2 sts, BO 5 sts; repeat from \* to end - 3 sts BO each repeat.
Thumb
Join yarn and pick up 5 stitches, pm. Row 1: K2tog, k1, repeat, to end of row. Row 2: knit to the end of the row Repeat row 1 & 2 until there are 12 stitches. Knit for 3 rows, purl one row. Cast off with the picot bind off.
