violet flower ornament
I created this non felted, violet flower pattern, when I descided to knit a hand muff, like the one of Tiny Owl from ravelry, but her flowers and leaves are crocket work and I prefer knitting... For me this flowers will be part of a Tiny Owl style handmuff and it will be "something new, something blue, something old, something borrowed" all in one for my friends wedding.

first you knit increasing rings. when you pull them tightly afterwards, the different kinds of stiches will make the flower shape itself. · cast on 15 stiches on 3 double pointed needles. · 1st round: °knit 2 stiches, slip 1° 5 times · 2nd round: °knit one purl one in the same stich, purl one knit one in the same stich, slip one stich°5 times · 3rd round: cast off (knit the knit stiches and purl the purl stiches and the sliped ones) °k1 p2 k1 p1°5 times now use a sewing needle to weave the end of the thread through your knitted fabric to the middle of the ring and to go through the inner ring of stiches five times (at the radiating stiches) to pull it together tightly. if you want to add a bobbely knotty stem thingy in the middle, do it before pulling together. my fotos show the knitted rings (back on top, front on the bottom) and the flowers when finished.
