Browning Deer Crochet Applique By The Knotty Designer

Materials
· US G hook (4.25mm) · approximately 2 to 3 yards of worsted weight yarn, Red Heart Super Saver in Pretty in Pink · Stitches used in pattern: chain, sc, and sl st (slip stitch)
Head
1 Chain 10, sc into 2nd chain from hook 2) Chain 4, sl st into 2nd chain from hook 3) Chain 5, sc into 2"d chain from hook 4) Chain 7, sl st into 2nd ch from hook 5) Chain 4, fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing
Antlers
1) Chain 1 and sl st into the sc located on the left side of the ear on the "head" part. Sl st into next chain. 2) Chain 4, sl st into 2"d chain, sl st into the next chain, sc in the next chain, sl st in the next 2 chains, then sl st into the sc and sl st into the next 2 chains. 3) Chain 6, sl st into the 2"d chain, sl st into the next 3 chains, sc in the next chain, chain 5, sl st into the 2"d chain from the hook, sl st in the next 3 chains, sl st into the sc and then sl st into the chain. Fasten off.
Notes/Tips:
I had the bottom of the applique sewn onto Row 4 of my hat. When sewing the applique onto the hat, I found it best to start with the "neck" part first. Place the applique on the hat with the curve for the neck on the right-hand side. When attaching the neck, give it a slight curve. When attaching the left side of the ear that has the antlers, you will need to give the ear some shape. You may need to spread the antlers out a bit.
