A simple beanie with a sweet little stem and leaf to finish it off. This is a very quick and easy hat to knit and they make great gifts.


Materials
Gauge 60 (70, 85, 100, 120)yds / 55 (64, 78, 91, 110)m DK weight yarn in MC green Small amount of DK weight yarn in brown and light green Shown in Sirdar Snuggly DK 3.25mm / US3 short circular needle and DPNs 4.00mm / US6 short circular needle and DPNs 22sts x 28 rows = 4" / 10cm Finished Measurements To fit head circumference: 14 (16, 18, 20, 22)" / 35.5 (40.5, 46, 51, 56)cm
Abbreviations
K Knit P Purl Sts Stitches Rd Round Rep Repeat MC Main colour K2tog Knit 2 sts together K3tog Knit 3 sts together YO Yarn over KFB Knit into the front and then the back of the stitch (1 stitch increased)
Instructions:
Using MC and smaller needles cast on 70 (80, 90, 100, 110)sts and join to work in the round being careful not to twist. Ribbing rd: (K1, P1) rep to end Repeat ribbing rd until your work measures 1" or desired ribbing length. Change to larger needles and K every row until work measures 4.5 (5, 5.5, 6, 6.5)" or desired length.
Crown decreases:
Rd 1: (K8, K2tog) rep to end Rd 2: K Rd 3: (K7, K2tog) rep to end Rd 4: K Rd 5: (K6, K2tog) rep to end Rd 6: K Rd 7: (K5, k2tog) rep to end Rd 8: K Rd 9: (K4, K2tog) rep to end Rd 10: (K3, K2tog) rep to end Rd 11: (K2, K2tog) rep to end Rd 12: (K1, K2tog) rep to end Rd 13: (K2tog) rep to end. 7 (8, 9, 10, 11)sts Change to brown and smaller needles. Next rd: K 1 (0, 1, 0, 1), \*K2tog, rep from \* to end. 4 (4, 4, 5, 5)sts Place the remaining 4 (4, 4, 5, 5)sts on to one DPN and work an Icord for 1 - 1.5" BO all sts. Leaf: Using smaller needles and contrasting green pick up and K 3sts close to the stem. Work an lcord for 1 - 2" (from now on you'll be working flat) Row 1: KFB, K1, KFB Row 2: K Row 3: K2, YO, K1, YO, K2 Row 4: K Row 5: K3, YO, K1, YO, K3 Row 6: K Row 7: K4, YO, K1, YO, K4 Rows 8 - 10: K Row 11: K3, K2tog, K1, K2tog, K3 Row 12: K Row 13: K2, K2tog, K1, K2tog, K2 Row 14: K Row 15: K1, K2tog, K1, K2tog, K1 Row 16: K Row 17: K1, K3tog, K1 Row 18: K Row 19: K3tog Break yarn and thread through the remaining stitch and secure. Block hat very lightly and weave in all ends.
