Curse You! Perry the Platypus Scarf

Materials:
Needles: Size 5 US Yarn: Any worsted weight yarn will do. To best approximate Perry's colors with what was available at my LYS and in my stash, I used: Body: Cascade 220, color 9419 (Vermeer blue) (one hank) Beak and back feet: Plymouth Encore Worsted, color 1014 (a little bit) Tail: Valley Northhampton, fawn (a little bit) Eyes: Tahki cotton classic, white Hair: Tahki cotton classic Two black four-hole buttons for the eyes. Very small amount of fiberfill for eyes.
Abbreviations:
Kf/b: knit in the front and back of the stitch (increasing one stitch) K2tog: knit two together Ssk: slip slip knit LI: Lifted increase
Instructions:
Beak: Cast on 9 stitches in the beak color. Knit one row. Kf/b, knit to the end of the row. Repeat this row until you have 26 stitches on the needle. Knit in garter stitch until piece measures 2.5 inches from the cast-on edge. On right side: k1, ssk, knit to 3 stitches before end of row, k2tog, k1. Knit 3 rows. Repeat these four rows 3 times. There will be 14 stitches on the needle. Knit 2 more rows. Kf/b, knit to the end of the row. Repeat this row until you have 20 stitches on the needle. Knit 2 rows. Break yarn, and change to body color. Body: Knit 6 stitches, place next 8 stitches on a holder. Cast on 8 stitches using backward loop cast-on, and rejoin to complete row. Knit in garter stitch for desired total length of scarf, minus 6.5 inches. Tail: Switch to tail color. Knit 2 rows. [Kf/b, knit to the end of the row] twice. Knit eight rows. Repeat these 10 rows until there are 28 stitches on the needles. Knit 4 more rows. On right side: k1, ssk, knit to 3 stitches before end of row, k2tog, k1. Repeat until there are 18 stitches on the needles. Bind off on the wrong side.
Nose: Put beak stitches from holder on needles. On right side, k1, ssk, knit to 3 st before end, k2tog, k1. Knit one row. Repeat these two rows once more (four stitches left) K1, k2tog, k1 Bind off and sew down. Eyes: With #3 needle, cast on 8 stitches. Join in round. Knit one round. [LI1, k1] to end (16 stitches). Knit one round. [LI1, k1] to end (32 Stitches). Knit 4 rounds. Ssk around (16 stitches). Knit 1 round. Ssk around (8 stitches). Stuff. Draw yarn through. Sew on black button with white yarn for pupil. Attach as desired. Hair: Knit three pieces of crochet cord, about 1.5 inches each. Attach as desired. Front Feet (make 2): With body color, at about 3.75 inches from the beak, pick up and knit 6 stitches on the side. Knit in garter stitch for 1.25 inches. Knit one row. K1, ssk, k1. Bind off. Back Feet (make 2): With body color, at 1.25 inches from the tail, pick up and knit 5 stitches on the side. Knit 3 rows. Change to beak color. Knit 2 rows. Kf/b, knit to the end of the row. Repeat this row until there are 9 stitches on the needle. Knit 7 rows. Bind off. Sew in all ends, and voila! Oh, there you are, Perry !
