He Stole My Heart in Sydney The Sydney cowl Five years ago I met the love of my life for our first date in Sydney NSW, he took me to the sea life centre and for lunch. It was a perfect beginning to my love affair with Australia and my affection for my soul mate. This cowl represents a snippet of all he has done for me and all the indulgences he makes for me. The Sydney was designed around the heart lace pattern, I love this simple lace heart which says so much with only a few yarn overs and decreases, I also included a little bit of colour work in this cowl as I had been itching to make something with it, I chose something with a slightly different texture to give the moss stitch even more interest. To simplify the components that make up this cowl I have explained how to do the stitches as we go along so you don't have to skip back pages to find the explanations.

Materials and Notions
Size 3.5mm and 4mm needles and a long cable for magic loop or a smaller one you can fit 182 stitches on, I used the magic loop personally as I couldn't find a suitable smaller cable. 12 stitch markers or pieces of scrap yarn - I didn't use any markers BUT I had to tink back at least 4 times during the lace portion as my inability to count to 10 was becoming apparent so I do wish I had marked the start of each heart panel. One skein (main colour) sport weight yarn - the pattern uses about 85% of this skein. I used my own brand of hand dyed sport weight merino in the colour veronica. One part skein (contrast colour) of around 30grams of sport or fingering weight. I used a mini skein of my own hand dyed in the colour Pegasus mane which was a 50/50 merino tencel fingering Darning needle for ends. K2TOG - knit two together SSK - slip 2 stitches knit wise and slide the left needle into the front of the slipped stitches and knit them together. BO- bind off for this pattern bind off in pattern - klpl. CC - Contrast colour

Pattern CO 182 stitches on the 3.5mm needles with MC and join for working in the round, if you are doing magic loop make sure your stitches are distributed evenly with 9l on each side of your loop. Rl-6 are worked in a brioche stitch.
