Yarn

Lily Sugar 'n Cream, 120 yards per ball 1 ball color 95 Red 1 ball color 16 Dark Pine or any worsted weight yarn.

Needles

US 6 straight and double pointed needles (for i-cord) \~OR\~ US 6 circular needles any length

Notions

Darning needle Lavender baggies, moth-away packets, or cedar balls for stuffing. Or poly-fil, cotton balls, or yarn scraps for a nonscented version Gauge not terribly important. I wrote this pattern up in 2003 during my participation in Knitting Secret Pal I. Insert little bags of lavender into your sachet, sew it up, and toss a strawberry or two into your stash to help you repel moths. Toss a few strawberry sachets into your unmentionables drawer while you are at it. No one wants moths there either. Using long-tail cast on method cast On 10 stitches, leaving a few inches of tail. (For seaming later) Row 1: p 10 Row 2: increase every other stitch, 15 stitches Row 3: p Row 4: increase 7 stitches evenly across row, 22 stitches Row 5: p Row 6: k1 green, knit 5 red, knit 1 green, knit 5 red, knit 1 green, knit 5 red, knit 1 green, knit 3 red. Row 7: purling across row, purl 1 red, bring green yarn on top of red yarn, purl 1 red, purl 3 green, purl 3 red, purl 3 green, purl 3 red, purl 3 green, purl 3 red, purl 2 green. Row 8: knit 3 green, knit 1 red, knit 5 green, knit 1 red, knit 5 green, knit 1 red, knit 5 green, knit 1 red Row 9: purl across row, all in green Row 10: k2tog in green across row Row 11: p2tog across row, end with p1, 6 stitches Row 12: k2tog across row, 3 stitches With 3 stitches on the needle, DO NOT TURN work. Push strawberry to right end of the left needle, bring working yarn across the back of the work, and tightly knit across row to begin I-cord. Knit I-cord for one more row, then bind off three stitches. Stuff strawberry with packets of lavender, moth-away or cedar balls, and sew up the back using red tails for the fruit area, and green tails for the stem.
