GAUGE:
17 stitches and 26 rows to a 4" square in stocking stitch on 4.5 mm needle or needle needed to obtain qauge. \*NOTE: It is extremely important to knit a swatch in order attain the 17 stitches to 4" gauge. If only the stitch gauge can be achieved and not the row gauge as given,this will not affect the outcome of the hat. INSTRUCTIONS: BRIM: BOTH SIZES: With 3.75mm needles C0. 74(86) stitches. ALL SIZES:
Break yarn, thread through a tapestry needle and run through the 14 remaining stitches. Gather tightly and close top of hat securely.
VISOR:
. FOR BOTH SIZES: . Place a marker in the center of the garter edging . Count 18 stitches from either side of center and mark . With size 3mm needles, pick up and knit 36 stitches between the markers. Knit in garter stitch for 1" and end with a rs row facing. Work a decrease at the beginning of the next 17 rowsasfollows: Right side row decreases: K1,K2tog,K to the end . Wrong side row decreases: K1,K2tog,K to the end\*NOTE\* There will be 19 stitches remaining after these 17 decrease rows. . Row 18 \*LAST ROW\* - K1,K2tog,slip 1st stitch on right needle over the 2nd stitch, BO remaining 16 stitches knitwise
FINISHING:
. Sew the back seam together using the mattress stitch. Secure the visor edges to the front band.
