Materials:
Cannon Cotton thread, size 8 (or substitute with cotton thread size 10), 1 ball main color (MC) and half a ball of contrasting color (CC), will make 2 pairs 1.5mm. or 1.75mm steel hook For crochet ties (optional), use 2mm hook 1 yard of $^{1}\!/\!4^{"}$ ribbon (optional) Size: Length of sole is about $3\;\%^{\;\;}$ using 1.5mm hook, as shown in model. This size is approximately for baby: 0- 3 mos. (to increase size use bigger hook)

Instructions
(Note: Ch 3 at the beginning of rnds counts as one dc.) Sole: With main color, start with ch 25, Rnd 1: Make 7 dc in $4^{\mathrm{th}}$ ch from hook, dc in each of the next 20 chs, 8 dc in last ch. Then working on opposite side of ch, dc in each of the next 20 ch. Join with ss to top of turning ch. (56 sts) Rnd 2: ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc on the next st 7 dc, dc in each of next 14 dc, tr in each of next 5 dc, 2 tr in each of next 10 dc (this will be the front part of bootie), tr in each of the next 5, dc in each of the next 14 dc. Join to the beginning of rnd. (74 sts) Rnd 3: ch 3, 2 dc in next st, (dc in the next st, 2 dc in next) 7 times, dc in next 20 sts, 2 dc in next, (dc in the next st, 2 dc in next) 9 times, dc in last 19 sts. Join. (92 sts) Continue on to side section.
Side Section:
Rnd 4: ch3, dc in back loop of each dc around. Join with ss to the beginning of this rnd. (92 sts) Rnd 5: ch 3, working in both loops, dc in each dc around. Join. (92 sts) Rnd 6-7: Repeat rnd 5. Cut off thread. (92 sts) Instep: With contrasting color thread, ch 5, join with ss to form ring. Rnd 1: Ch 3, make 11 dc in ring. Join. Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in each dc around. join Rnd 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in each dc except on the last 10. Make 3 tr in next dc, dc in each of next 2 dc, hdc in each of next 4 dc, dc in each of next 2 dc, 3 tr in last dc. Join. Rnd 4: Ch 2, (2 hdc in next st, hdc in next ) 14 times, 3 hdc on next tr (using stitch marker, or scrap of yarn, mark the middle hdc), hdc on next, sc on 8 sts, hdc on next, 3 hdc on next (mark the middle hdc), hdc on last st. Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in each sc around. Join. (52 sc) Rnd 4: ch 4, (skip one sc, dc on next sc, ch 1) repeat around. Join with ss on top $3^{\mathsf{r d}}$ ch at beg. Rnd 5: ch 1, sc in same st as ss, sc in each sc and ch 1 sp around. Join. (52 sts) Rnds 6-8: ch 3, dc in each st around. Join. (52 sts) Fasten off main color. Rnd 9: Join CC. Ch 1, reverse sc in each st around. Join and finish off. Trim: With MC, sc around lower edge of sole on remaining loops of rnd 3. Finishing: You may use 14" satin ribbon for ties, or crochet ties as instructed below. Weave ribbon in spaces in rnd 4 of top part.
Crochet ties
You can choose either a ball or a flower as embellishment. Use 2mm hook. Ties: Crochet ball or flower (below), ch 100, and cut-ofleaving about 30" of thread. Weave the tie in the bootie, then pick up loop at the end of tie and crochet the other ball or flower. Weave in ends. Ball: Ch 5, make a 7-tr cluster on the $5^{\mathrm{th}}$ ch from hk. Ss on the beg ch 4, and ss on the space where you made the cluster. Flower: Ch3, dc in 3rd ch from hook, ch2, ss in same sp.(Ch 2, dc in same sp, ch 2, ss in same sp) 4 times. You will have 5 petals.
