Fortune Cookie Fast and Easy
This Fortune Cookie is super easy. It can be made very quickly. And it holds its shape: I included where to place the holding stitches. They can be made in any color for special occasions. I also added some fortunes that you can print. I know it's a bit late for the Chinese New Year. Think of it as a bit early for next year's festival. The Cookies are great anytime, for any celebration: Red or Pink for Valentine's Day. Green for Saint Paddy's Day. White for a Wedding Celebration. Rainbow colors for Birthdays. Pastels for Baby Showers. Black and Orange for Halloween. Red and Green for Christmas.

Pattern Notes:
Work in a spiral and mark beginning stitches. Do not join rounds or chain-1, unless instructed. Use a thread or safety pin to mark stitches. Marked stitches are just to help with placement. Materials: Ww Cotton (l used Red Heart Super Saver): \~ 8 to 9 yds. Color: Cream, Tan or Whatever 5.5 mm / I Hook Yarn needle to sew Gauge: 6 sc and 6 Rnds = \~ 2" Not crucial.
Cookie:
Rnd 1: Leave \~ 8" (20cm) of beg yarn. 7 Sc in a Magic Ring. (7) Rnd 2: Leave the beg-yarn-end free to fall to the back. Inc around. (14) Rnd 3: (Sc, Inc) around. (21) Rnd 4: (Inc, Sc in 2) around. (28) Rnd 5: (Sc in 3, Inc) around. (35) FO with \~12" (30cm) to sew. Pull yarn-end through the next stitch from back to front. (See Photo 2) Note: This stitch will be skipped, when sewing the top edge. Finished Size: \~ 2" high and 2 %" wide (5 x 7 cm) Abbreviations: \~ = Approximately Beg = Beginning FO= Fasten Off Inc = 2 Single Crochets in same stitch MR = Magic Ring Rnd(s) = Round(s) RS = Right Side RT = Right St(s) = Stitch(es) Tog = Together WS = Wrong Side Yd(s) = Yard(s)

Shaping the center:
With the back side facing, pull the beg-yarn end tight and cinch the center hole closed. Thread needle with the beg-yarn. Insert two rounds up from the center hole, toward the final stitch of Rnd 5. The stitch will be between Rnds 2 & 3. (See Photo 3)
Turn the piece over to the front. Skip five stitches around to the left (Photo 4: Red Arrows), and insert needle in next stitch-hole (Green arrow). Bring the need back up to the front, in the next stitch-hole (Blue Arrow). Then, insert the needle into the stitch-hole to the right of the first stitch (Purple Arrow). There should be two vertical lines with the center hole in the middle (Photo 5). Turn the piece to the back, pull the yarn-end and the circle should fold in half (Photo 6). Insert the needle back and forth once more through the same stitches (both layers) to strengthen. Weave in theend. Fold the circle right side out, to form the cookie, Make sure the fastened off yarn-end is to one side. (Photo 7).
Finishing the Top Edge:
Thread the needle and insert from front to back in next sc (the one to the left of the final pullthrough from Photo 2). Skip the next stitch to the right (the stitch with the final pull through). And carry on through the next stitch to the right, back to front (Photo 8). Continue to weave through both loops of each side, back and forth of the matching stitches along the edge (Photo 9). Pull each stitch gently so they are snug, but not tight. Leave an opening of the last three sc's from each side (Red Arrows: Photo 10). Secure the last stitch and weave in the end.
