Montse Beret

by Debra J. Tetreault When my children were young we participated in the student exchange program. One summer we were fortunate enough to have students from Spain and that's how we met Montse. Though I have wonderful memories, I miss her still and hope to see her again someday. It was a wonderful experience. She was so surprised at how we made out own clothes, gardened, put up canned vegetables, crocheted, and knit etc. While she was staying with us I made her some clothes from fabric she chose. She was thrilled! We played games 'til the wee hours of the morning sitting on the porch enjoying the fresh summer breeze. I designed this beret for her. She says she wears it to this day and truly loves it and would. be lost without it. This is a fast and fun project to knit. Great for beginners and seasoned knitters alike. If you set your mind to it, the beret can be made in an evening.... surely to be a favorite the night before Christmas. Onward!
