This pattern is designed as a tutorial for knitting in the round with two circular needles. When doing small circumference knitting in the round with two needles you are only working with one needle at a time. The other needle acts as a stitch holder while you are knitting. reat as a first circular project, this cup cozy will fit soda cans or travel mugs.

Cast On Knit Bind Off Purl

2 Size 6 circular needles sted weight yarn. Sample was knit in Misti Alpaca Qolla in the Flora colorway

Gauge is 5 sts/inch. Use a flexible cast on method. The Long Tail cast-on is the easiest to learn and gives a flexible edge. Cast on 36 stitches on to one of your circular needles. Cut yarn leaving a 3-4 inch tail. Move the last 18 cast on stitches to the second circular needle. You should have 18 stitches on each needle. Place a marker on the needle where the cast on tail is attached. This is the beginning of each round.

Align all your stitches so that the bottom bumps' are in the middle between the two needles. Check all stitches to be sure none are twisted. Using the other end of the same needle knit the first cast on stitch, pulling the working yarn snugly to join in the round.

This pattern is 2 X 2 ribbing. \*K2, P2\* for 18 stitches (for the first row you have already knit the first stitch when you joined in the round). This should bring you to the end of your first needle (A). Push the stitches to the cable of needle A to keep them from falling off the needle while working on needle B. Rotate your needles to use the second needle (B). Using the other end of needle B, knit the first stitch, bringing the working yarn from needle A. Pull the working yarn snugly as you knit the second stitch to avoid “ladders" (see below). P2, and continue working K2, P2 pattern to the endof therow.

Continue the K2, P2 pattern in this way until your object measures 3.25 inches or desired length, ending the pattern at the row on needle B.

Bind off in the rib pattern. The cup cozy needs a stretchy bind off. The Russian Bindoff or Jeny's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off are good choices. A great tutorial of the Russian Bind Off given by Knitting Pipeline's Paula Fuessle can be found at http://bit.ly/1j4dYZP. You can find Cat Bordhi's tutorial of Jeny's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off at http://bit.ly/1aV4KiT

You can make the cozy wider by adding multiples of 4 stitches.
