Materials
2 skeins worsted weighe yarn (about 1o0 yds/skein) or 1 skein very bulky yarn Size x(s.o mm) needles Oddments of colored yarn, ineluding enough red or pink yarn for crocheted or I-cord tongue Tapestry heedles Polyfill' stuffing material Sample uas made uieh 2 strands of Brouh Sheep Cotton Fleece in Cw375 Rue Important! Read Notes Before Starting 1) Abbrevialions are as follous: b) M1 is alwags a lifted inerease, made by lifting the horizontal yarn betueen sts and purling into Ehe front of ehe lifted yarn. Consule a lechniques book for miore informalion if needed. c) P = purl d) inc = increase e) dec = decrease f) DK = double-knit or double-knitting 2) Double-knilling is an easy technique by uhich you can knil a Eube uithoul using circular needles or DPNs. Once you'get the hang of it, you'll probably ehink of fun varialions and uays to make other neat Loys. The basie DK sl I use for lhis loy is: On an even number of sts, \*P1, sl1, repeat from \* ko end (aluays ehd on Sli). Repeat until length desired. After a fei rous of Dk, you'll notice that Ehere are "frone" sts and "back" sts. You'll also notice you can place your finger in the tube you've made. You mighe wane to practice uith a feu yards of remnane yarn before starting the shake. 3) Every rou begins uith Pi. Every rou ehds with Sl1. 4) The increase sequence used is one I devised. It consists of 4 rows a! follows: Rou 1: P1, M1. Sl1, \*P1, Sl1, repeal from \* ko lhe ehd. Rou 2: P1, M1. Sl1, \*P1, Sl1, repeal from \* ko hexe ko before se, M1, Sl1. Rou 3: \*p1, Sl1, repeal from \* to hexe ko before lase st, M1, Sl1. Row 4: \*P1, Sll, repeal from \* ko ehd. At the end of each'4 rou sequence, you will have ine Ehe st count by 4 sts. If you knou a better way to ine in Dk, please drop me a note at Ravelry! s) Gauge is not important. You want something thick enough to hold Ehe stuffing so it doesn'e shou Ehrough. I find Ehat 2 strands of worsted weighe yarn on size & needles is ehick ehough, and Ehe resultane stikch couhl will give a good size to the shake.
