Sly's Toe up Mary Janes
This pattern is constructed for 4-ply sock yarn/ fingering weight yarn for new born size. You need 1 circular needle in 2,5mm - min. $60\;\mathsf{c m}$ / US # 1 1/2 - 24" ( $^+$ a second circ, same size, or a set of double pointed needles, same size, if you prefer either technique to magic loop), 2 markers. Cast on 20 stitches with magic cast on (10 per needle) Knit 1 round.
Increase :
1.Round : [2x kf&b, k6, 2x kf&b] twice 2.Round: [2x kf&b, k10, 2x kf&b] twice 3.Round: [2x kf&b, k14, 2x kf&b] twice You have a total of 44 stitches (22 on each needle tip for magic loop) Knit 1 Round

Last increase round:
3x kf&b, k17, kf&b, k1 $\rightarrow$ needle 1 k1, kf&b, k17, 3x kf&b $\rightarrow$ needle 2 Total stitches: 52 (26 on each needle tip for magic loop) Knit 2 rounds, then knit 1 round , purl 1 round 3 times (3 garter ridges). Now rearrange your stitches as follows: Knit 10 st.(instep) - pM- knit 32 (back) - pM - knit 20 (instep) $=$ still 52 stitches! You're back at your 1st marker. (distributing to 2 circs or 3 dpn if you like: 16-16-20)
Decrease Round1:
back: k 32 instep: k3, ssk, k3, ssk - k2tog, k3, k2tog , $k3\,=48$ sts total Knit 2 rounds
Decrease Round2:
back: k32 instep: k2, ssk, k2, ssk - k2tog, k2, k2tog, $\mathsf{k}2\mathsf{\Omega}=44$ sts total Knit 2 rounds
Decrease Round 3:
back: $32\,\mathsf{k}$ instep: k1, ssk, k1, ssk, - k2tog, k1, k2tog, $\mathsf{k}\mathsf{1}=40$ sts total Knit 2 rounds.
Instep bind-off round:
k 30 - Bind off 12 sts. !! You have now 28 sts (back). Continue knitting flat.
Left shoe:
At the last (bind-off) st. - cast on 16 st. - do not turn! [Slip 1, purl 43st. - turn] 6 times bind off 16 sts. purlwise, purl 27 sts. - turn - bind off all sts. purlwise.
Right shoe:
k across back stitches, turn, cast on 16 stitches, [Slip 1, k43 -turn] 6 times bind off 16 sts, k 27 sts -turn- bind off all stitches

Sew in all ends and add fine buttons, then enjoy these pretty Baby Mary-Janes
