A KNIT LOCAL PATTERN

OFF THE GRID HAT
Yarn: I skein Cascade Eco Duo or Eco Duo Colors, 50%Alpaca 50% Highland Wool 200yds. Or any other heavy worsted/aran weight yarn. Needles: US #9 I6" circular , US #9 double pointed needles Other tools: tapestry needle, pom pom maker Gauge: I6 stitches = 4 inches. This hat is stretchy and fits and average head. Skills used: knit, purl,slip stitch, decrease, Glossary: CO- cast on using the long tail cast on or other 'stretchy' method. K- knit P- purl sl st - slip stitch as if to knit from left needle to the right needle. ssk- slip, slip, knit. Slip two stitches one at a time from your left needle to your right needle. Slide the left needle through the front of the two stitches and knit them together. This creates a left leaning decrease. K2tog - Knit two stitches together. This creates a right leaning decrease. \*repeat whatever is between the asterisk
Pattern:
I. CO 80 stitches. Join making sure stitches are not twisted. Place marker for the beginning of the round. You will be slipping this marker as you knit. 2. \*KI, PI\*(IxI rib) for 2 /2” 3. Start at the beginning of the round and \*K7, slI\*for 3 rounds. 4. Next round , K all stitches. 5. Repeat line 3. 6. Next round P all stitches. 7. Repeat lines 3-6 five more times. 8.Repeat line 3. 9. Begin decreasing. Switch to double pointed needles.\* K2tog,K3,ssk, sl Istitch\* repeat until the end of the round. I0.\*K5,slip I\* until the end of the round. I I.\*K2tog\* for one round. 12. Using a tapestry needle thread yarn through remaining stitches, pull together, and sew closed. !3. Add Pom Pom.
Basic Pom Pom
Using an index card or something similar, wrap yarn around the card (the short direction) IOO times. Slide yarn off card carefully. Tie firmly in the middle with string or another non stretchy yarn. Cut loops through the middle. Now fluff and trim your pom pom. Sew firmly onto hat with non stretchy yarn. Pattern Notes: This hat can be worn cuffed or as a slouch.
