Materials
8 ply or DK yarn is recommended, you will need less than 50g 4mm hook is recommended, determined by your gauge yarn in two colours of your choice, "Forest Princess" main colour = green, contrast colour = pink
Size
this premmie size beanie will fit a small newborn sized head with a circumference of about 10 to 12 inches, in the picture the hat is worn by a 12 inch head, so may appear larger on a smaller head, the hat is 4 inches from tip of crown to brim, 5 inches stretched
Gauge
the first two rounds should measure 1.75inches across, if they are smaller use a larger hook, if they are larger use a smaller hook
Special Stitch
"Granny Cluster" - sk 2 3 dc into next, OR 3 dc into next ch sp
Colour Combinations
Each Princess hat has a special name determined by the colour combination. The main colour is the type of Princess, the colour of the trim determines if the hat is a Princess, Mermaid, Angel or Fairy. Have fun with the special names and 20 colour combinations! Use different shades of the same colour for 4 more possible combinations.

(in main colour) 3 ch (counts as 1st st) sl st into 1st ch to form loop, 11 dc into loop, sl st into 3rd ch (12 st) 2. sc into next 2 ch (counts as 1st dc throughout), dc into same (2 dc into next) repeat to end, sl st into 2nd ch (24 st) 3. sc into next 2 ch, dc into same (dc into next, 2 dc into next) repeated to end, dc into last, sl st into 2nd ch (36 st) 4. sc into next 2 ch, dc into same (sk 2, 3 dc into next, counts as granny cluster throughout), repeat for 11 granny clusters, sk 2 dc into same as 1st sc (counts as 12th granny cluster throughout), sl st into 2nd ch (12 granny clusters) 5-10. sc into next ch sp 2 ch, dc into same (3 dc into next ch sp) repeated for every ch sp, dc into same ch sp as 1st sc, sl st into 2nd ch (12 granny clusters) fasten off 11.
