Leghole Shaping: FOR ALL SIZES using a DPN, bind off 5 sts knitwise. Then knit the next 13 (15, 17) sts onto the dpn. You will have 14 (16, 18) sts on this dpn. Using a 2nd dpn BO 5 sts knitwise, again for ALL sizes, then knit the remaining stitches onto the dpn. You will have 30 (34, 38) sts on this needle. This will now be the back of the skirt/diaper cover that you wil be working on.
BACK:
Now you will be knitting back and forth using two dpns and decreasing to shape the back of the diaper cover portion of the skirt. Row 1: Turn, p1, P2tog, p to last 3 sts, P2tog-tbl (dec2sts) Row 2: Turn, k1, SSK, knit to last 3 sts, K2tog, Repeat these 2 rows until you have 14 (16, 18) sts left onyour needle. You must have the same amount of sts on each dpn to kitchener them together. Cut your yarn leaving the live sts on the dpn.
FRONT:
Pick up the dpn holding the sts for the front. Attach the working yarn and knit in stockinette stitch for 8 (12,16) rows.
FINISHING:
Cut your yarn leaving a tail that is at least twice as long as the stitches to be grafted together. With the purl sides facing each other begin grafting together with the kitchener stitch. lf you have never done this before here is a wonderful article with step by step photos to help you out. Just remember not to tighten your stitches too much but don't leave them too loose either. The graft needs to match the gauge of the rest of yourknitted work.
