Difficulty

According to the skill levels outlined in the yarn standards by the Craft Yarn Council, this is an easy pattern. It is not a beginner's pattern. http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/skill.html

Materials

8 ply or DK yarn is recommended, you will need less than 60g. 4mm hook is recommended, determined by your gauge. Yarn in two colours of your choice. .

Size

This premmie size beanie will fit a small newborn sized head with a circumference of about 10 to 12 inches. This is commonly the size of a small newborn or an older premmie, please measure baby's head to be sure. In the picture the hat is worn by a 12 inch head, so may appear larger on a smaller head. The hat is 4 inches from tip of crown to brim, and 5 inches when stretched.

Gauge

The first 2 rounds of this pattern should measure 1.75inches across, if they are smaller use a larger hook, if they are larger use a smaller hook.

Special Stitch

"Granny Cluster" - sk 2 3 dc into next, OR 3 dc into next ch sp 'sp" - the space between two granny clusters

Note

- Stitches are worked into the top two loops of a stitch, they are not worked in between stitches or into one loop. - To hide the seam, join the last sl st to the 1st dc not the 1st st, to hide the seam (the 1st dc is not the same as the 1st st). - For the increasing rounds, last st is worked in the last sl st of the prev rnd.
