Difficulty

According to the skill levels outlined in the yarn standards by the Craft Yarn Council, this is an easy pattern. It is not a beginner's pattern. http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/skill.html

Materials

8 ply or DK yarn is recommended, you will need less than 50g. 4mm hook is recommended, determined by your gauge. Yarn in two colours of your choice. For a "Forest Princess" hat, it is recommended the main colour is green and the contrast colour is pink.

Size

This premmie size beanie will fit a small newborn sized head with a circumference of about 10 to 12 inches. This is commonly the size of a small newborn or an older premmie, please measure baby's head to be sure. In the picture the hat is worn by a 12 inch head, so may appear larger on a smaller head. The hat is 4 inches from tip of crown to brim, and 5 inches when stretched.

Gauge

The first two rounds of this pattern should measure 1.75inches across, if they are smaller use a larger hook, if they are larger use a smaller hook.

Special Stitch

"Granny Cluster" - sk 2 3 dc into next, OR 3 dc into next ch sp

Note

Stitches are worked into the top two loops of a stitch, they are not worked in between stitches or into one loop.

US Crochet

Crochet terms used in this pattern are in standard US crochet. This pattern is available in UK crochet on request.
