HippaHat
by LauraAhlstedt Hippa is the Finnish name forTag(the You're it!-game). This hat was designed to match my wife Taija Elo's Hippa Mittens, so the name was rather an obvious choice. The soft bulky yarn makes this hat a surefire way to escape the cold.

Size:
Women's. This is a stretchy pattern, it fits us both and my head is significantly bigger (her 20.4" / 52 cm, mine $23.2"\ /\ 59\ \mathrm{cm})$ . The hat is modeled on a 20.4" head.
Yarn:
Katia Mirasol Sulka / Mirasol Sulka $[60~\%$ merino, $20~\%$ alpaca, $20~\%$ silk; $50~\mathrm{g}$ / 55 yards $(50\,\textrm{m})$ ] - 120 yards / $110\,\textrm{m}$ . 1 had to break the third skein, but needed only a little. You might be able to knit this with two skeins if your gauge is a bit tighter.
Gauge:

16 sts and 20 rounds $=$ 4" / 10 cm in the charted pattern.
Needles:
US 10 / 6 mm, 16" / 40 cm circular and dpns. You will also need a stitch marker and a darning needle to weave in the ends. You can knit the whole hat using 5 dpns. The round starts between needles 4 and 1. The start of the round travels during the crown decreases, so you'll need to rearrange your stitches accordingly.
Hat body
Cast on 64 sts on the circular needle. Join to be worked in round, be careful not to twist. Place marker to mark the start of round. [k2, p2] to the end of round. Repeat for 5 rounds in total. Increase round: $[\mathbf{k}2,\,\mathrm{m}1]$ to end of round. - 96 sts Start knitting from the chart. Repeat the according row of the chart for the wholeround. Work the rows 1-27 of the chart once.
Crown decreases
The start of round travels on certain rounds, so please read this part carefully. If you're using the circular needle, switch to dpns or magic loop when the stitch count decreases. Round 28: [p2, k2tog, k2, ssk] to the end of round. - 70 sts Round 29: [p2, k4] to the last stitch. Move the marker one stitch to the right (on dpns, move the last stitch on needle 1) making the previous last stitch now the first stitch of the next round. Round 30: [ssk, k2tog] to the end of round. - 48 sts Round 31: Knit all sts. Round 32: [k2tog, ssk] to the end of round. - 24 sts Round 33: Knit to the last stitch. Move the last stitch on needle 1, making it the 1st stitch on round 34. Round 34: Knit 2 together to the end of round. - 12 sts Round 35: Knit all sts. Round 36: Knit 2 together to the end of round. - 6 sts Break the yarn and pull the tail through the remaining stitches. Pull tight.
Finishing
Weave in ends. If you wish to, you can steam or block the hat lightly. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me: lailalaiyarnz@gmail.com
Chart

Right twist is knitted as follows: Knit the $2^{\mathrm{nd}}$ stitch on the left needle, do not drop. Knit the $1^{\mathrm{st}}$ stitch on the left needle. Drop both stitches. You can also move 1 sts to the back of the work, knit 1 sts and then knit the moved stitch for the same result through a more fiddly process.
