Tilting TARDIS Mitts
Having yarn left over from a Tilting TARDIs Cowl, I decided to make a pair of fingerless mitts to go with it. They are worked in the round, so I wrote up the modifications to Marilyn Phillippi's original pattern. Use whatever yarn you're using for the Tilting TARDIs Cowl; beware of the needle size, though. You'll probably want to go down several sizes from the suggested ones, from 5 mm to maybe 3.5 mm or even 3 mm. A light fingering weight yarn on size 3 mm needles should give you a Ladies' size small. Abbreviations: bc (back cross): Slip 2 sts to dpn, hold in back, k2, then knit 2 sts from dpn. fc (front cross): Slip 2 sts to dpn, hold in front, k2, then knit 2 sts from dpn. Working a mitten (make 2): Cast on 39 sts, divide onto 3 dpns. (Or Magic Loop, if you prefer.) Join to work in the round, taking care not to twist.

Work 7 rnds garter st, starting with a purl rnd. The TARDIS pattern goes across 13 sts, which gives you 1 horizontal repeat on each dpn. The instructions below are for 1 horizontal repeat. Rnd 1: p1, k5, p1, k5, p1 Rnd 2: p1, k1, (yo, k2tog) twice, p1, k5, p1 Rnd 3: p1, k5, p2, k4, p1 Rnd 4: p1, k1, (yo, k2tog) twice, p2, k4, p1 Rnd 5: p1, k5, p2, k4, p1 Rnd 6: p1, k1, (yo, k2tog) twice, p2, bc, p1 Rnd 7: p1, k5, p2, k4, p1 Rnd 8: p1, k1, (yo, k2tog) twice, p2, k4, p1 Rnd 9: p1, k5, p1, k5, p1 Rnd 10: p1, k5, p1, (k2tog tbl, yo) twice, k1, p1 Rnd 11: p1, k4, p2, k5, p1 Rnd 12: p1, k4, p2, (k2tog tbl, yo) twice, k1, p1 Rnd 13: p1, k4, p2, k5, p1 Rnd 14: p1, fc, p2, (k2tog tbl, yo) twice, k1, p1 Rnd 15: p1, k4, p2, k5, p1 Rnd 16: p1, k4, p2, (k2tog tbl, yo) twice, k1, p1 Rnd 17: p1, k4, p2, k5, p1 Work rnds 2 - 16 once more.
