Pattern notes
Casting on may be done any of several ways. I like them all. The figure 8 method: http://agatheringofwool.blogspot.com/2005/08/figure-8-cast-on.html Judy's magic cast-on method: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring06/FEATmagiccaston.html The Turkish method: http://www.knittingdaily.com/glossary/middle-east-wrap-cast-on.aspx
Pattern
Instructions are provided for infant (baby) sizes. Cast on 16 (16) sts, 8 per circular needle, using your preferred method. Round 1: K all sts around. Round 2: K1, m1, k to last st on first needle, m1, k1; rep on second needle - 20 (20) sts. Rep rows 1 and 2 until you have 36 (48) sts. Work in stockinette st until work measures 2" (3"). Cuff: K2, p2 rib around for %" (1"). K all sts 1 round. P2, k2 rib (opp to previous rounds of ribbing) for %4" (1"). Bind off all sts.

Finishing
Make two mittens. Work in all loose ends. Fold over at each wrist. Work I-cord over 3 sts for 32" (40") and bind off. Atttach an end of I-cord to inside of wrist of each mitten.
