Why Super Saver?
Red Heart Super Saver is an excellent yarn for amigurumi! It's inexpensive, there is a great color selection, and one skein goes a long way. The most important characteristic, though, is that it creates a very sturdy fabric when crocheted at a tight gauge. This helps your finished project look less lumpy, and makes it last longer! Put your hook through the back loop of the icing, and both loops of a stitch on the cake (put your hook through the inside to the outside) and pull a slip stitch through all three loops. Do this % around, stuff cupcake firmly and continue around.

Notice that you can still see the front, purple loop that you did not slip stitch into when joining. This is the stitch you will work your shells into. [sc 1, sk 1, dc 5 into 1 st, sk 1] x9 sl into first sc, secure and break yarn

Time to embellish! I held scraps of spring green and amethyst together and tied a little bow for the front of my witch's hat. Be as creative as you want!
