Abbreviations:
dc - double crochet hdc - half double crochet sC- single crochet sl st - slip stitch st - stitch, sts - stitches ch - chain yo - yarn over

Special stitches - hdc2tog - half double crochet 2 together: yo, insert hook into next st, yo draw up loop, yo, insert hook into next st, yo draw up loop, yo over pull through all 5 loops on hook.
Changing Colors:
You will be changing yarn colors several times. To do this, change yarn color in the last step of the last st of the old color. For example, in the last hdc of the last orange row - yarn over, insert hook into last st, pull up loop, drop orange, yarn over with yellow and pull through all loops on hook. Hdc & yarn change complete.

Candy Corn
O=orange Y=yellow W=white R1: Hdc in second ch from hook and each ch across, turn (8hdc)

Ch 9 with 5mm hook and O R2: Ch 1, hdc2tog, hdc in the next 4 sts, hdc2tog. Change to Y in last st. Turn (6 sts) R3: Ch 1, hdc in each st, turn (6 sts) R4: Ch 1, hdc2tog, hdc in the next 2 sts, hdc2tog. Change to W in last st. Turn (4 sts) R5: Ch 1, hdc in each st, turn (4 sts) R6: Ch 1, 2 hdc2tog, turn (2 sts) R7: Sl st 2 together. - insert hook into next st, pull up loop, insert hook into next st, pull up loop, pull this loop through alloops on hook. Ch 1, cut yarn, pull yarn end through chain and pull tight. Weave in ends.

Skull:
Join each round with a sl st in first st at the end of each round. R1: Magic loop, ch2, 12 dc in loop R2: ch 2, 2 hdc in same st as join, 2 dc in the next 7 sts, 2 hdc in the next st, 2 sc in the last 3 sts, join, turn (24 sts) R3: ch2, dc in the 6 sc sts of last round, ch2, in the same st as last dc. (6dc) Use a yarn needle and black yarn to sew on the face. Sew mouth with simple straight sts where chin dc's and sc's meet. Sew side by side straight sts for eyes over 2nd and 7th dc of 1st round and nose over 12th dc.
Cross Bones:
Make 2 with 5mm hook This is written in steps, not rounds or rows

1. Ch 4, sl st in first ch (this loop will be referred to as 1st ch 3 loop) 2. Ch12 (you can ch more is you want a longer crossbone, this section will be referred to as the middle chs) 3. Sl st into 4th ch from hook (this loop will be referred to as 2nd ch 3 loop) 4. Inside the 2nd ch 3 loop - (sl st, ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2) repeat, sl st 5. Hdc in each ch of the middle chs across to the 1st ch 3 loop 6. Repeat step step 4 in 1st ch 3 loop 7. Hdc across the other side of each ch of the middle chs. Join with invisible join in the beginning ch 2 of sts in 2nd ch 3 loop.
Black Widow Spider:
With 5 mm hook Spider body & legs: Join each round with a sl st in first st at the end of each round. R1: Magic loop, ch 2, 12 hdc in magic loop R2: ch 1, 2 hdc in same st as join, \*hcd, ch 8, 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in each ch, hdc\* in the next 4 sts, 2 hdc in the next st, hdc in the next st, 2 hdc in the next st,

repeat \* to \* in the last 4 sts. Join with invisible join. Spider Head: With right side facing you, join yarn in 2nd st from right, of the 7 sts between legs. See arrow on picture. Skip the next st, 5 hdc in the next st, skip the next st, invisible join in the next st. With 4 mm hook & red yarn. Use worsted or sport weight. This is written in steps, not rounds or rows 1. Ch 3, \*2 hdc, ch2, sl st\* in 1st ch 2. Ch 2, repeat \* to \* in the same space as step 1 3. Cut a long tail for sewing. If needed, sew through stitches along the back to close up space in the middle (if there is one from all those sts going in one space). Sew onto center of the back of the spider.
