Pumpkin Coaster

Materials:
Sugar & Cream Cotton Yarn (120 yds/70 g), worsted weight; 16 yds bright orange color; shown in #01628 - Hot Orange & 2 yds dark green color; shown in #00016 - Pine Green to make 1 coaster. Multiply the yardage by the number of coasters you wish to make. · Size G (4.50 mm) crochet hook ·Tapestry needle

Notes:
Not all rows are joined with a slip stitch at the end, some are worked in a spiral form. Follow the directions exactly as they are written to achieve a final product similar to the pictures shown.
Directions:

With Orange: Round 1: Ch 2, sc8 in first ch, sl st to join. Round 2: Ch1, 2sc in first sc, 2hdc in next two sc, 2sc in next two sc, 2hdc in next two sc, 2sc in last sc. (16 sts) Round 3: Sc2, 2hdc in next st, 2dc in next st, dc, 2dc in next st, sc4, 2dc in next st, dc, 2dc in next st, 2hdc in next st, sc2. (22 sts) Round 4: Sc, hdc2, (2dc in next st, dc) twice, 2dc in next st, 2hdc in next st, sc4, 2hdc in next st, 2dc in next st, (dc, 2dc in next st) twice, hdc2, sc. (30 sts) Round 5: Sc, 2dc in next st, (dc3, 2dc in next st) twice, dc2, 2dc in next st, hdc4, 2dc in next st, dc2, (2dc in next st, dc3) twice, 2dc in next st, sc. Change to Green: Ch7, dc in third ch from hook, dc4, sl st into first dc of previous row. Fasten off and sew in ends, making sure that the center is pulled tightly closed. NOTE: Your pumpkin may curl up a bit on the edges, just give it a nice stretch and blocking and it willay flat. Optional - you may also use black yarn or cutout craft felt shapes (sewn on with needle & thread) to change the plain pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern for Halloween.
