The original upon which this pattern is based was knit, literally, overnight! I cast on at about 9:o0 p.m., knit for an hour or so, then another hour the next day and it was ready for finishing. The thick/thin yarn creates a fascinating fabric and scalloped edge with no additional effort by the knitter. Yarn: \~60 meters of superbulky thick/thin yarn. Originally knit from 2 skeins of Sandnesgarn Canto (a superbulky to worsted thick/thin yarn, 95% wool/5% polyamid, 35 meters/50g skein). Aslan Trends Del Sur should make a good substitute. Gauge: 9 st/4 inches. Approximately 4 rows/ inch. Needles: 7.0 mm (between a US 10-1/2 and 11 - use whichever gets gauge). 36" or longer circular for magic loop method OR 16" circular plus one set double pointed needles in same size OR one set double pointed needles, according to preference. Size: Smal/medium (medium/large) woman's head (21-22" (22-23") circumference as worn) Abbreviations: k2tog = knit two together Cast on 48 (54) stitches. Join in a tube - be really careful not to twist as this yarn plays tricks with your eyes! Place a marker at start of round. Knit straight (though your fabric will undulate because of the nature of the yarn) for 6 (5.5) inches and start decrease rows. It's hard to measure, so just try it on and see if the depth is right after 3-4 of the decreaserows. Decrease: Medium/large size only: Row 1: \*Knit 7, k2tog\*, repeat \*\* 5 more times (48 st).
