You need
Dale Garn Freestyle (100% wool, 80m/50g), 1 ball each of 0017 (white) and 5626 (blue) or other wool yarn of comparable weight
isfit/2015 HAT
1 set 4 mm DPNs 1 stitch marker embroidery needle

Note
This hat is fairly stretchy, so gauge isn't really that important. However, if you know you're a very loose knitter, you might consider using 3.5 mm needles to achieve a warmer fabric.
How to do it
Using long-tail cast-on, CO 80 sts in white. Join in the round being careful not to twist, and p 1 rnd. K 1 rnd, p 1 rnd (= 1 garter st rib) Continuing in garter st, work the hat following the stripe pattern set below: White: 6 ribs (including the ones already worked) Blue: 1 rib white: 5 ribs Blue: 2 ribs White: 4 ribs Blue: 3 ribs White: 3 ribs Blue: 4 ribs White: 2 ribs Blue: 5 ribs White: 1 rib Blue: 6 ribs


In the second-to-last blue stripe, begin the crown decreases starting with the k rnd of the 4th rib. Rnd 1: \*ssk, k 8, repeat from \* Rnd 2 and all following even rows: p Rnd 3: \*ssk, k7, repeat from \* Rnd 5 (white): \*ssk, k6, repeat from \* Rnd 7: \*ssk, k5, repeat from \* Rnd 9: \*ssk, k4, repeat from \* Rnd 11: \*ssk, k3, repeat from \* Rnd 13: \*ssk, k2, repeat from \* Rnd 15: \*ssk, k1, repeat from \* Rnd 17: ssk around Rnd 18: p Break the yarn and thread through the remaining 8 stitches.
Finishing
Soak in warm water for 5-10 minutes. Gently squeeze out water against the edge of the sink, then roll into a towel and press down to dry even more. Do not wring or twist. Lay on a flat surface and gently pull into shape. Dry laying flat. Optionally, make a pom-pom of both color yarns held together, and sew it over the little hole in the crown after the hat is dried.
