Inspired by the blocks in the classic Tetris game, this pattern uses a simple mosaic pattern to create the blocks without needing to use more than one colour in any one round This pattern can be knitted using a yarn with long colour changes such as the Noro sock yarn or you can use it as a stash busting exercise and knit each repeat of the mosaic pattern in a different colour. The two socks don't even have to match! Continue shaping the heel by working one st less at each end of the needle until you have 12 unworked sts in the middle of your needle. All the stitches of the heel should still be on the needle.

To increase back up:

knit back and forth across the heel stitches, working one extra stitch (along with its wrap) on each row. You may wish to work the final stitch of a short row along with its wrap, and then wrap the next stitch before you turn, on each row, but you don't have to. I do it because I think it makes for less "gaps." Change to main colour and continue to work in the round in until the foot measures 2 inches less than your desired finished length. Cut main colour and use the next colour in your sequence.

Shaping the Toe:

Round 1: Knit to within 3 stitches of needle 1 K2tog, K1, K1 ssk at the beginning of needle 2, knit to the end of the needle. Repeat over needles 3 and 4. Round 2: Knit the entire round without decreases. Repeat these two rounds until you have 5 stitches left on each needle (20 stitches in all) Graft the remaining stitches to close the toe Repeat the instructions above to knit a second sock.
