,Simply Devine"-Socks

Description:
These socks are knit top-down, the socks are completely mirrored, but there are no instructions for heel and toe, you can make these as you wish. The pattern is also suitable for beginners, but some experience in sock knitting is needed. The pattern contains charts for small socks (56 stitches) and for women's medium socks (64 stitches). Materials: 100 grams of solid-coloured or slightly variegated sock yarn (420 Meters) 1 set of 5 dpns : 2.5 mm or 2.75 mm or $3.00\:\mathrm{mm}$ (depending on gauge) 1 single dpn size 1.5 mm or 2 mm 1 tapestry needle Sizes: 56 stitches for children socks or women's small 64 stitches for women's medium or women's large (is shown in brackets) Gauge: 42rows $\times\,30$ stitches in stockinette stitch is 10 cm / 4 inches in square (I must admit Ilive adventurous by not checking gauge for socks, but they always fit $\circledcirc$
Instructions:
Cast on 56 (64) stitches, join to round and divide evenly on four of your dpns: 14 (16) stitches each Needles 1 and 4 are the back side of the sock (the stitches on these will be for the heel) Needles 2 and 3 are the front side of the sock (will be instep) The chart are only showing needle 2 and 3, Needles 4 and 1 are knit in stockinette stitch
Picot Edge:
Knit 5 (8) rounds 1 round: \*yarnover, knit2together\* repeat around Knit 6 (9) rounds Now, using the smaller needle (1.5 or 2 mm), pick up 14 (16) stitches from the cast on edge. Foid hem in half at the eyelet row and also take the thin needle inside of the hem. Now you got 14 (16) stitches on the thinner needle and 14 (16) stitches on the thicker needle. Put the needles parallel to each other and knit together: one stitch from the thin needle and one stitch from the thicker needle. Repeat until you have done the first needle. Then proceed with the other needles following the instructions above. Knit one round. Now knit a so called ,Set-up-round" : (Instructions for a 64 stitches socks are in brackets) The right sock: Needle 1: knit 14 (16) stitches Needle 2: k1tbl, puri 2, knit 6, purl 2, k1tbl, knit 2 (purl 2, k1tbl, purl 2, knit 6, purl 2, k1tbl, purl 2) Needle 3: knit 14 (16) stitches Needle 4: knit 14 (16) stitches Then knit on according to ,Chart right sock". The left sock: Needle 1: knit 14 (16) stitches Needle 2: knit 14 (16) stitches Needle 3: knit 2, k1tbl, purl 2, knit 6, purl 2, k1tbl (purl 2, k1tbl, purl 2, knit 6, purl 2, k1tbl, purl 2) Needle 4: knit 14 (16) stitches Then knit on according to ,Chart left sock". The Charts for the left and the right sock are mirrored to give a nice effect! Repeat the rounds 1-14 of the Chart as often as you need to achieve the right cuff length. After thatit is best to repeat once again until round 7 (looks nicer and it's easier to go on after the heel), Work heel with the stitches of needle 4 and 1 and go on with round 8 (if you have followed my advice) after that. Once again repeat the Chart until you have reached the foot length you need. Here it is also best to end with row 7 or 14 of the chart. (to avoid the bulk the cable would produce... $\circledcirc$ 一 Then knit the toe you like best. Finished!
