$4\times509$ balls of Rowan Tapestry in shade 175 (approx $480\;\mathsf{m}$ $2\times4\%$ mm needles or one $4\%$ mm circular needle Note: This pattern is worked sideways, casting on along the long edge. You may find it easier to use a circular needle due to the large number Ofsts. The scarf in the photo was knitted in Rowan Tapestry Dk -but try a Fingering or 4ply yarn for a thinner, shorter scarf for girls, or a Sportweight or Aran yarn for a winter outdoorsy scarf. Anni x
Tension
19 sts and 48 rows to $10\;\mathrm{cm}$ (4 ins) measured over patt, using $4\%$ mm needles. Preppie scarf Using $4\%$ mm needles, cast on 270 sts. Commence patt Row 1 - Knit. Row 2 - P to end, cast on 30 sts by knitting between last 2 sts on left hand needle (cable cast on). 300 sts. Row 3 - Cast off 30 sts lo0sely knitwise, K to end. 270 sts. These 3 rows form patt. Rep these 3 rows 23 times more. (There should be 12 tassels at each end.) Cast off knitwise. Sew in ends. Block or press lightly to gain measurements stated.
